Scam app

Do not subscribe! App doesn’t work as advertised, times out when you scan. Store wont refund this scam subscription

Not there yet.

The concept of the app is amazing, but the app is just not it. You pay a $20 Subscription for "access to vets and the forum" where ALL of the questions go unanswered, & no vet ever responds to anything. The scanning feature is nice, but chatgpt can do the same for free if you just ask if a product is toxic or not & send a link. Kind of feel scammed by the app but whatevs. maybe in a few years, this app could actually be worth $20. It needs more users & work

Come a long way

Redownloaded the app after some time and was pleasantly surprised by the improvements. It’s smoother, more user-friendly, and way more reliable than before. Great job to the team!

Response from developer

Thank you so much. We've been getting a lot of great feedback lately, and it’s helped shape some exciting new features and improvements we have in the pipeline. The work never really ends, but hearing this kind of feedback keeps us going. Thanks again for taking the time to share.

A.I use

The entire apps picture of the stuff bad for animals is AI generated

Response from developer

Thank you so much for the feedback. We’ve built our knowledge base from over 700,000 ingredients, compounds, and chemicals reviewed for pet safety. With a small team, it was financially and logistically impossible to gather real images for all of them, so we focused on generating visuals that are as close and recognizable as possible. We’ve heard this feedback from other users as well, and we have it on our roadmap to improve in 2025. Hopefully, over time, we can transition to more real images in stages. Every feedback helps us make ToxiPets better for pet owners everywhere. Thank you again.

Could not scan anything

So I tried scanning products after I downloaded the app, nothing worked but app still said I ran out of free scan even though it keeps saying failed please try again later. I then went to pay for the yearly subscription anyway because I have 6 cats. Same. Tried different products throughout different lighting and settings for 30mins. After scanning/taking photos with the app, it keeps saying failed, please try again later. So far, out a $20, 30mins and gained a lot of frustration. Maybe before charging people money, you can actually make sure your product works.

Response from developer

Thanks for the feedback, and we're really sorry for the frustration. That experience isn’t what we want for our users. We’re currently conducting testing across a wide range of devices to ensure the camera feature works consistently for everyone. Your report is incredibly helpful for that effort. In the meantime, if you're open to it, we’d love to work with you directly to troubleshoot and make things right. You can reach us anytime at admin@chivelab.com. Also, we’re happy to issue a refund while we sort this out. Thanks again for giving ToxiPets a try.

Not accurate

I paid the subscription and used their picture scanning feature but it was not accurate. I scanned my cat’s favorite food and it made up ingredients that weren’t there. Needs to be fixed.

Response from developer

Hi Danny_alv, thank you for the review, and we're really sorry about the inaccurate scan. When we started ToxiPets, it was after our own dog, Snoopy, nearly died from getting into a bottle of Imodium. We built the app to help pet parents identify and avoid household toxins, not originally for pet food or pet medications. But over the past few months, we’ve seen a shift: around 70% of user searches now start with pet food, pet supplements, or pet medications. While these aren’t toxic, it shows how much pet parents care about what’s in their pets’ products. We’re actively expanding our focus to support that need. We really appreciate your feedback and would love to hear more. If you're open to chatting with our product team, please reach out to us at admin@chivelab.com. The ToxiPets Team 🐾

Why do I have to pay to help keep my pets safe from food I’ll be saving money time and headaches if I just make my own cat food

Response from developer

Kitty’s lucky to have you in their life. Thanks for checking out ToxiPets.

Ingredients list scanner is on point

Please add personalization based on pet weight and how much they ingested

Vet Approved

This app has come a long way since its inception! I’m a veterinarian, and I use this app daily. It’s been a valuable tool for my clients to check if certain foods or plants are toxic. It’s also been a great guide for me in an emergency if I don’t know all of the ingredients in a food/substance a pet ingested.

Rip off by forced upgrade by causing yearly paid subscription to stop working,$39.99

I purchased a year at 39.99, to protect my pets.Tried to use and would only pop up telling me to upgrade when I only just purchased app a short time ago. Unless you pay additional demand for money it suddenly does not work! I may sue Apple!

Response from developer

Thank you for your honest review and we're really sorry for the trouble. Just to clarify, we don’t have any hidden tiers or upsells beyond the monthly and yearly plans. That upgrade popup should not be showing for subscribers. It's a bug that a few users have run into, and we’re releasing a fix for it this week. You’ve officially joined our Bug Finder Club 🐞. It's our way of showing love to users who help us catch bugs before they spread. When someone reports an issue like this, we treat it like gold. It helps us fix things faster and make the app better for everyone. To thank you, we’re sending Chewy gift cards to users who spot these issues. Please email us at admin@chivelab.com. We appreciate your support and are working hard to make sure the app delivers what your pets deserve. ToxiPets Team

Subscription Based

I wouldn’t have downloaded the app if i knew you had to pay a subscription. There really should be an option to not get one but have ads or a flat rate cost that isn't a reoccurring expense. If it was a flat rate then honestly i would’ve considered the purchase. You can use the app without a subscription it just seems like it prompts you to buy a subscription very often, and you have limited access. So you can’t actually scan anything. This is a good idea but it doesn’t have cost in mind at all. im sorry but i would rather find an app that’ll do this for free.

Hi Gabby, We appreciate your feedback. ToxiPets is powered by a custom identification algorithms built with veterinarian-backed research to help pet parents make safer choices. Ongoing updates and expert insights ensure accurate results, which is why we use a subscription model. That said, we’re always looking at ways to make ToxiPets more accessible. Feel free to share your thoughts at admin@chivelab.com—we’d love to hear from you! Thanks for trying ToxiPets! 🐾

January 2023 Impression

Great idea in development. UI experience could use some work as it took me while to figure out that one had swipe right to go back from the search function - no back button. Some tutorial instructions on how to use the app would be nice! Like the dark and alight mode option. Like most new products, it is still a work in progress and has room to grow especially with the object recognition. That could use some more improving on visual recognition accuracy. Can’t wait to see it further developed and leveraged weekly if not daily!

Stop yelling at your devices.

This is a perfect app to not just get expert, precise information, but to actually keep that information handy if you need it again if you’re like me and forget the answer given 5 minutes ago.

If you’re tired of yelling at your devices giving you terrible information and repeating yourself, this is for you.
