New AI system needs work
If you’re a beginner, it’s a great place to start and learn about training. But if you’re advanced at training, I’d suggest to go elsewhere with your money and more importantly your time.
AI not for everyone
Unfortunately the latest overhaul of the app is heavily AI-focused, and it’s simply not ready for prime time. The team may get there eventually, but the current struggles are eerily familiar to the long wait for Adaptive Training to properly account for outdoor rides. The new AI was supposed to be the solution to that, but it still goes off the rails way too often.
The workarounds amount to adjusting your FTP to where you think it should be and choosing workouts that feel right. So if the workout library and player are worth the price, TR makes sense. Otherwise, probably not.
Getting faster with TR
Use it or lose it
Der Kalender ist hervorragend und der Kundenservice ist herausragend. Die antworten immer und helfen einem. Gute Arbeit machen die.
Du musst natürlich etwas mitdenken, und natürlich trainieren, klar.
Get fit, get fast
Great Idea, poor execution and customer service
When contacting customer service, the response is: oh yeah we know there is an issue, other people have reported them too but our app also is on Android and Windows too!
Oh nice so I paid $300 so you could tell the app doesn’t work on Apple products sometimes? That’s the solution?
I will be filing a complaint with Apple separately but please don’t waste your money if you intend to use this indoor or outdoor on iPhone, iPad or Apple Watch.
Fails to load after update
Blank/Black Screen
New app broke app completely
Disappointing
Hate AI
Excellent training tool
New update broke it
Previously, it was great, and I depend(ed) on it for training.
Awesome!!
Used to be awesome
All about gains
Useless AI
Disappointing new UX
1. When browsing through workouts after selecting type and duration, selecting a workout opens a modal view of that workout to see specific wattage and interval durations. Clicking the x in the top right of this modal closes and erases the type and duration selections; you have to start over. This is a regression from previous versions where the x simply closed the modal. Yes, I’m aware of the back button in the bottom; this is a departure from how modals work in other applications.
2. After manually choosing a workout on a yellow day, the app will almost immediately replace that with a 30m recovery ride. This will happen so quickly that you can’t choose a workout and then, say, start the workout in Zwift before it’s replaced. Some of us with busy schedules need to work out on yellow days because we know we have a day or two coming up which we’ll have to take off.
Response from developer
Thanks for the feedback! I'm not able to get the experience you're describing in situation #1. If I click on a workout, I can see all of the details in the side window, and my filters are preserved when I close that out. As for #2, if you are manually choosing workouts and want to ignore the fatigue detection suggestions, you can turn them off in your account settings. Then we won't automatically adjust your schedule. If you're having issues with either of these, please reach out to support@trainerroad.com. We'd be happy to help out!
Broken AI
Then they broke in with a new AI release that is just awful. FTP is now a proprietary score that has changed values suddenly. The AI predict your FTP is a gimmick. It slows down my system and spits out an ftp prediction for a month away than changes around d day to day it becomes a mental health issue for me.
In process of migrating to a platform that adheres to long term conventions so I can track my progress in industry understood metrics not a weird propriety one.
Very sad about this, it’s a shame when such a nice thing comes to an end
