Clumsy, unreliable
The app shows Volume at max but the hearing will not be at maximum volume until I move the slider to zero and back up to max. Same thing with Sound Balance. In a restaurant, I cannot adjust the controls because the app cannot tell my hearing aid from others around me. The previous version had a setting for Noisy Environment. The current app has only Universal.

CROS use is poor
This is my third set of hearing aids and my first with phone connectivity. As a retired computer engineer, my reaction to software issues is “did the person who designed/wrote this actually ever use it?” In this case, obviously no one using a CROS hearing aid ever got near the code for this app. While the CROS device has multiple microphones similar to the regular aid, the app’s directional features not only don’t use them, but it completely turns off the CROS aid. It goes further - when streaming sound from the phone, it also turns off the CROS aid which hinders any communication with someone nearby. Even worse, this happens often when using any app that *might* play sound, even if only ads. For instance, this often happens when reading news. Sometimes, this behavior continues after turning the phone off. Why can’t I hear well? Oh, my CROS aid is disabled.
I’ve used this now for a year and it is quite frustrating. I’m tempted to just pitch them and see what Phonak has. I replaced my Phonak aids when their batteries wore out the second time (in 6 years). They were in many ways better devices (waterproof for one) but had no connectivity. TruHearing was subsidized by my insurance at the time.
I do enjoy being about to hear phone calls better and to listen to media, but there certainly must be better less frustrating options available.
