WORST
This is a terrible app. It hasn’t been working properly for weeks, and it’s basically the only way you can access the gym and actually use the membership and benefits you’re paying for. 😂
You need it for everything: entry access, viewing class timetables, booking classes, and even seeing the classes you’re already booked into. None of these functions are available on the website either. It just redirects you to the App Store, so you’re paying for a membership you can’t fully use because the app doesn’t work.
Hopefully I’ll be able to cancel mine and go back to ClassPass.

Some worst UX out there
Some of the worst UX I’ve seen recent years.
- it always logs me out so I can’t enter the gym
- relaunching the app doesn’t help - you need to reinstall it
- UI is counter intuitive and hard to navigate
- classes time doesn’t display properly so I can only guess what time is the class that I book
- it displays information for Indian time zone not Australian
- it shows some special characters instead of proper texts
- worst thing is that they try to sell you some partner products via this app

Put in management with knowledge of gym equipment
Virgin active zetland weights equipment hasn’t been upgraded in nearly 10 years yet you spend a ridiculous amount of money on a work from home space. During peak hours there are barely 9 benches in front of dumbbells.
So many bugs
Always have to uninstall and reinstall. Should’ve just stayed on web services!
Dodgy update fail app + lethargic response
I have delayed posting as a longstanding member of a gym I otherwise love (in spite of the fact that the spa has also been faulty for many months now).
The so called app "update" 3 weeks ago now means that I can no longer book classes - bummer.
I guess I could join my employer's gym pass scheme.
Cheaper for sure.
Requests for a discount or even free coffee were ignored...

Could be a good app, but isn’t
Rewards tiers don’t work, navigation isn’t intuitive, clicking on notifications outside the app takes you to the wrong place in the app. Needs improvement
Glitches
New to the gym on my third week now and noticed that in the rewards it wouldn’t have recorded me attending class or at the gym half the time.
However when asked at reception at least it has my attendance recorded down.

It’s okay
Like the rewards but I just wish that the notifications for sessions were a reminder at least a day before and not just one a few hours before. It’s a bit glitchy with the card sometimes too but other than that it’s okay.
Functionalities not there
No booking buddies, have to open app to check-in, difficult to filter classes between clubs, cannot check booking history, tier benefits are basically useless
Downgrade from MyLocker
This app has been a nightmare.
Unable to add it to my Wallet or Apple watch. It’s really annoying to open an app while I’m stepping into the gym.
Unable to add classes to Google Calendar like I used to. Also got reminders from the app just 3 hours before the class which is useless like I got reminders at 2am for early morning sessions.

Virgin active Bondi junction
Excellent facilities that are most conducive to getting the most out of your workouts. 7 amazing levels that have the right balance of varied activities, along with style and panache.
Website somehow better
Can’t get invoices directly through the app and they shut the website down too? Now I have to contact the staff to manually do this for me? Checked if my app was up to date and checked if i was missing anything and i wasn’t.
Only thing they forgot was their brain making this app.
Great use of resources and forcing everyone to use your app. Member tier system is stupid, I’ve been a member since 2019 and go 5-6 times a day and you start me at bronze with no compensation? This gym is one of the most expensive in Australia and they do all this but can’t clean a sauna? I would give this app 0 stars if i could. For the rate we pay (that keeps increasing for no rewarding reasons) is pathetic.

Virgin Active gym
I love virgin active. The best gym ever with all required facilities and training equipment, classes not just for exercise and training but also for recovery. The only downfall is they need more attention on the cleanliness and hygiene of gym. The toilets can be so gross and staffs need professional cleaning there.

This app is a significant step backwards, very difficult to use , less functionality, not optimised for accessibility functionality.
Awful New App, poor UX and not responsive
I can’t believe how bad this new app is. I’m a software engineer and this looks like it’s been built by team who knows nothing about app design, UI and UX. The app is not responsive! You can’t see the times on the timetable. The timetable is hard to find on the home page then when you do find it you can’t see all the times and classes in one view. You have removed the option to add your QR code to your wallet for fast entry, now you have people at reception standing there opening the app to get in which creates a bad customer experience. The app images as a background are too large which confuses the user when scrolling. The navigation headers are hard to see on homepage. When you have a booked class it’s not immediately noticeable where it is to change your booking. Please redesign and rebuild this properly considering how much money virgin is worth.
