Amazing
Absolutely amazing app. A treasure trove of content, you will not be disappointed!
Hold On
I’ve been surprised by how impactful this app has been. It’s not so much the thoughtfulness of the app itself, and it is thoughtfully designed, it’s more the content and guidance of Sam’s voice that I’ve come to trust in some sense. Nearly everything these days has an agenda for me. Sometimes it’s subtle, but it’s usually recognizable if I listen to the sensations in my body. For me, Sam is one of a few people I can sit under and allow his voice to guide me deeper. And deeper this rabbit hole seems to go. I can sense an unraveling in my mind that’s both scary and thrilling because it feels like real change. It feels like freedom.
Thanks Sam & team.

The Best!
This is the best site for meditators and for those interested in discussions about the Dharma.
I was only scratching the surface …
… of what it is to meditate and why until I gave this app a couple weeks of daily use. Harris is an expert teacher and his neutral, calm and steady demeanor makes it easy to keep going each day. I especially appreciate the recordings by other well known teachers of philosophy and spirituality. No where else have I come across such a catalog. I’m confident continuing my daily practice in the app will improve my life in many ways.

Simply wonderful, and grateful there is a way to use it for free. Beyond a simple meditation app.
So many incredible guided meditations, talks, conversations, life lessons etc. from so many smart and wise people. It’s all been just so useful and beneficial in all aspects of my life.

Thanks a lot
Best app to practice meditation. No distractions only valuable knowledge.
I am so glad I came to know about this app and tried it.

Sam Harris is creepy
I would not recommend this app, there are much better meditation apps available
This is the one
Honestly the best meditation app out there to cut through the noise of new age spirituality and the din of old timey religiosity. Fantastic customer service too.
Scammy
They make it virtually impossible to cancel your membership. There is no way to do it on the app or on the site. Also, the UX is horrible. I expect better.
A new beginning
Waking up is part of my daily routine. It has helped me immensely to work on myself and remove my worrying and anxious thoughts.

Sam - there is no objectivity on genocide. I had to delete this app. Very useful tool.
Awesome for Beginners!
I am a brand new meditator and this app
has helped me so much in my self bettering journey.

White Men
I got an ad for this app and thought I’d give it a try. After downloading it I looked around a bit and saw nothing but white men. I was shocked to see the welcome message was by Zionist and Islamaphobe, Sam Harris. And then looking around more, a high percentage of the recordings are all with Sam Harris. No thanks! Sigh. I’m tired of only hearing from men and especially those who are justifying a genocide. How is this compassionate or enlightened???

Sam Harris support the genocide in Gaza
The app is good overall but it's hard to try to take advice about inner peace when Sam Harris is a supporter of the genocide in Gaza.
Full of knowledge, wisdom, advise, humor from wonderful teachers
I started this app after hearing Sam on Dan Harris’s app and was at first a little overwhelmed by so much content. Began slowly, with the daily meditation and soon found myself on a whole new level of my practice. Sam’s approach for me was unique and introduced me quickly to the part of my mind that is separate from thoughts and sensations. Here was a friendly, peaceful state that I could go to at any moment!
Soon I started the sleep talks and meditations which are now my nightly habits. Once I began exploring Theory, Practice, Conversations I knew this app had it all and stopped using the other apps I had followed for years.
Thank you for this incredibly rich material. You are truly doing a wonderful service to we seekers.

Tangible progress
I’ve been using waking up consistently for about 5 years now. Some weeks more than others, but I always start my day with a reflection, and regularly sit for the 10 minute guided meditation. I’ve noticed I can observe my emotions as they arise now. Particularly frustration. And choose to hold onto it or not more easily. It’s making me a better husband and father. Thank you Sam !

Worst meditation app
Save your money and get the more popular proven apps like Calm. The meditation clips are guided by amateurs who speak in abrupt sentences without a calm and soothing voice. The instructions are not congruent and I often felt jarring experience with this app.
Latest update
I'm mildly annoyed with the latest update.
Nothing is free
I realize you’re operating a business… but c’mon. There ain’t even a calming ocean sound included as a teaser. Cheapskate much? Everything is locked upon downloading. Your responses to reviews that “Money shouldn’t keep you from meditating” means that you’re not even listening to your potential base. Ya gotta offer a “little” something to get “alotta” something, know what I’m saying here? $$ You just lost my potential subscription, regardless of what your geo-political views are! It does me no good to never know what you are so talented (as you proclaim). Make this make sense. Include some teaser clips and maybe I’ll be back.

Mediation as it should be practiced
Having attempted meditation over the past few years, I had come to believe that mindfulness was primarily a focusing exercise. You learn to focus on breathing, to the exclusion of all else, and learn to apply this skill more generally. All the other impacts others described seemed down stream of this focus, and those that weren’t I believed to be made up. After giving this app a few months, I can say that I was completely incorrect. I won’t argue for it here, but meditation is the practice of “self”-knowledge (and for those who have worked through the courses I use the word self generously here). It is a genuinely profound experience to realize you have lived your entire being drowned in thought, and to finally hear that torrent of noise as it is. The meditation practices provided here do really give the sense of “waking up”, for the first time. I would recommend this practice to anyone, I think Harris and the other instructors on here do a very good job, and there are a wide variety of courses focusing on Cognitive behavioral therapy, more spiritual versions of meditation, self knowledge, gratitude, analyzing consciousness. Meditation is much more expansive than I thought it was. This may sound unrealistic to those who haven’t tried it (it certainly was to me). Just try going in with an open mind, I feel highly confident it will change how you see yourself and the world.
