Verdict
The clearest difference is rating: AudioKey 2 at 5.0 against WIDEX EVOKE's 2.8. WIDEX EVOKE's advantage is ratings volume (265 vs 1) and device support (4 vs 2). On price, review sentiment, update cadence and ads there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.
AudioKey 2 holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 2.8. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: WIDEX EVOKE has 265 ratings behind it against 1, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 15% of WIDEX EVOKE's written reviews are positive against 11% of AudioKey 2's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.
WIDEX EVOKE ships an update every 3 months, AudioKey 2 every 4 months. The most recent releases landed on October 30, 2026 and July 7, 2026 respectively.
