Verdict
The clearest difference is monetization model: Freckled Poppy at free against Halara's free with in-app purchases. Halara's advantage is chart position (#74 vs unranked) and ratings volume (62K vs 8.2K). On price, rating, review sentiment and update cadence there is nothing between them.
Scored on Price · Rating · Positive reviews · Number of ratings · Update frequency · Ads · In-app purchases · Monetization · Best chart rank · Devices · Requires iOS
Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.
On the App Store both sit at effectively the same score — 4.9 for Freckled Poppy against 4.8 for Halara. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Halara has 62K ratings behind it against 8.2K, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews are what separate them: 52% of Freckled Poppy's written reviews are positive against 54% of Halara's.
Freckled Poppy ships an update monthly, Halara every 3 weeks. The most recent releases landed on November 2, 2026 and November 6, 2026 respectively.
