Verdict
The clearest difference is review sentiment: Wemlin at 79% against ZVV's 31%. Wemlin also leads on monetization model (free vs free with in-app purchases) and device support (4 vs 1). ZVV's advantage is update cadence (weekly vs every 4 months) and ratings volume (225 vs 3). On price, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.
ZVV holds the better App Store score, 4.6 against 4.3. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: ZVV has 225 ratings behind it against 3, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 79% of Wemlin's written reviews are positive against 31% of ZVV's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.
Wemlin ships an update every 4 months, ZVV weekly. The most recent releases landed on October 23, 2026 and October 25, 2026 respectively.
