Verdict
The clearest difference is review sentiment: MyCOBenefits at 68% against Venmo's 14%. MyCOBenefits also leads on monetization model (free vs free with in-app purchases). Venmo's advantage is ratings volume (15M vs 5.5K) and rating (4.8 vs 4.5). On price, ads, in-app purchases and device support there is nothing between them.
Scored on Price · Rating · Positive reviews · Number of ratings · Update frequency · Ads · In-app purchases · Monetization · Best chart rank · Devices · Requires iOS
Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.
Venmo holds the better App Store score, 4.8 against 4.5. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Venmo has 15M ratings behind it against 5.5K, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 14% of Venmo's written reviews are positive against 68% of MyCOBenefits's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.
Venmo ships an update weekly, MyCOBenefits monthly. The most recent releases landed on October 25, 2026 and October 24, 2026 respectively.
