Verdict
The clearest difference is rating: Citrix Workspace at 4.3 against R1's 2.5. Citrix Workspace also leads on ratings volume (6.4K vs 8). R1's advantage is review sentiment (58% vs 49%) and iOS requirement (7.0 vs 17.0). On price, update cadence, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.
Citrix Workspace holds the better App Store score, 4.3 against 2.5. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Citrix Workspace has 6.4K ratings behind it against 8, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 49% of Citrix Workspace's written reviews are positive against 58% of R1's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.
Citrix Workspace ships an update monthly, R1 every 6 weeks. The most recent releases landed on October 16, 2026 and September 30, 2026 respectively.
