Both are free to download. syracuse.com sells 15 in-app purchases, starting at $7.99 per month and Democrat & Chronicle sells 4 in-app purchases, starting at $19.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.
syracuse.com holds the better App Store score, 4.4 against 4.2. Both are backed by a comparable volume of ratings — 6.9K and 2.5K respectively. Written reviews complicate that: 15% of syracuse.com's written reviews are positive against 41% of Democrat & Chronicle's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.
syracuse.com ships an update every 3 weeks, Democrat & Chronicle every 4 weeks. The most recent releases landed on October 19, 2026 and October 20, 2026 respectively.
