Great alternative to expensive personal trainer

The fit bod app at the beginning when I started like 5 months ago was seemingly out of date, through this past 5 months I’ve seen great improvements to the ai generating my workouts. The only thing that could make this app better is more personalization ability for the user like simple small things for the user to feel that this app is a customized and tailored for the user. That could encompass the users ability to change the color of the background, seasonal theming, or even something as small as changing the sound of the alarms the app tells you to move on to the next set. A problem I face using the app is once the work out is started you are not allowed to navigate the rest of the very limited app unless you end your work out, and then navigating the homed page you see your list of work outs / body composition / goals / and logged works. There should be a tab or something to locate your personal records with out having to individually look all of them up. Lastly the forcefully promoting your app when your trying to just show friends and family your workouts via the share button needs to be stopped just promote your app on the photo card itself don’t type out a long promotional ad at the bottom of the text box. Over all this app has helped me big time to get closer and closer to my fitness goals and will be renewing my yearly subscription again(which is like 200$ cheaper than a real personal trainer)!!!!!!

We appreciate your review and feedback! I've noted your feedback down for our Product team so it can be considered for the future. We're glad you've been enjoying the app updates and that it's helped you towards your fitness goals 💪😊

PLEASE UPDATE THIS ANNOYING FEATURE

I do enjoy the app and use it a lot but the only thing stopping me from giving it 5 stars is that when you get given a recommended workout say for example for a back/bicep day…

If there’s specific exercises you don’t like, you select it and replace it with another. Then you click ‘finish workout’ at the end.
The NEXT time you work out the same muscle groups (on a back/bicep day), it gives you the SAME EXACT WORKOUT as your previous back/bicep day only because you didn’t do it EXACTLY as the app wanted and replaced a few exercises. PLEASE CHANGE THIS so it refreshes into a new workout REGARDLESS of the fact you changed a few exercises it’s SO ANNOYING. Please and thankyou!!

Thanks for your review, Nicholas! In cases like this we'd recommend asking the app not to recommend those exercises again - you can tap the "..." to the right of the exercise > Don't recommend again. I hope this helps!

Makes you work but there’s free apps just as good.

I do like this app as it makes you work. Though after watching the advertisement I thought it would do a lot more. The main thing I don’t like about it is, for example My next workout is set at target muscles 36% biceps & 97% abs (not sure where that math makes sense) and it has given me 6 biceps sets and only one for abs? I can swop exercises out but isn’t the whole point that the app does this. If you guys could fix this, then I will enjoy using and keep paying. In the set target muscles part, if you could add a feature where you can adjust your own percentage, that would be great. At the moment I think I will just stick to the one month for now. Also the week trail is pointless because it doesn’t give the AI chance to learn anything or for the customer to see if the AI even works. Second week I’ve used it now & can’t really see anything useful coming from the AI.

I was thinking another feature that would be good, that if u can set to home workout or gym workout. Then you can add into the app what equipment you have at home & it generates a workout based on that.

Overall this app does have a lot of potential.

I’ve added an extra star as the creators seem to be good and responsive. Gives me faith that they will continue with updates and trying to make the app better.

Thanks for sharing your feedback with us, Kevin! Since core exercises (abs + lower back) are included in every workout, you'll typically only get 1-3 of these exercises in your workout depending on your workout duration. The app will also try to prioritize your split so you may have lesser recovered muscles for the day based on this. We're happy to look into this further for you though if you message us at support@fitbod.me! For the Set Targets, this is a new feature and we'd like to add the ability to edit your goals later on - I've also noted your feedback on this for the team working on that. You may find this Algorithm FAQ helpful as you explore the app as well: fitbod.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/articles/16254175592215-Fitbod-s-Algorithm-FAQ You can also set up multiple Gym Profiles so that you can have a home option and a gym option to easily switch between 😊 More here: fitbod.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/articles/360006333853-Your-Gym-Profile

Best workout App ever - need to keep adding new exercises

Been using this app since April. Very effective. Definitely needs to frequently update with new exercises. I use this app at home for my weight training with dumbbells, mini loop bands and body weight because the timeframe to which I workout is a busy time at the gym. Would also like to see specific targeted muscle exercises like the different areas of chest, triceps, biceps, shoulders, etc.

Best workout app

Been using this app for 6 months. Great for any beginners, I tried the more popular “workout” app to compare and found this one was better. It has better flexibility if you need to miss a day, easier to customise workouts, tracks your progress better and algorithms for training harder work better. Can adjust the amount of time you want to work out for, as previously said, easier to customise. I will say the only downsides are that there are a lot of easy exercises so I switched to the more difficult workouts only to find the same dumb exercises but the app lets me permanently delete them from future workouts.

Great app but bored

Been using for 5 years but i am starting to get bored. Wish it had meal plans too making it easy to do the diet too. Thinking about switching

Response from developer

Thanks for sharing your review! In addition to the meal plans, is there anything else that you'd like to see added to the app that would improve your experience?

Difficult to create non-gym workouts

I gave up trying to create programs for use at home and at the park.
The app has no support for exercises using park & playground equipment (e.g. park benches, monkey bars). It is also missing simple equipment which could add variety to home workouts (e.g. chair, door frame).
I didn’t find a way to specify custom equipment, and although it’s easy to replace an exercise, the range of exercises without gym equipment is very limited.
While this app wasn’t suitable for the type of workouts I was looking for, it seems quite capable of creating workouts for the gym.

Definitely Recommend

I have spent the last 3 years using various fitness apps for my home gym. I noticed that after 2 months, I’d get bored with my 3 workouts per week, have a break for a week or two and try and find some new exciting exercise that I wasn’t already doing thinking it would unlock new gains. But doing so meant I was very inconsistent with my reps (either strength, hypertrophy etc) or chosen weight. What I love about this app is taking away the guess work, and just doing what the app recommends with just some minor tweaks if it’s too easy. The variety definitely gives you that CrossFit WOD feeling where you don’t know what you’re walking into that day. As a few people have mentioned, a buffer in the total workout time would be great, as adjusting weights in a home gym is slower than a commercial gym. It’s early days, but even on advanced setting, the workouts suggested are a bit easy - hopefully the AI picks up on this and the progress overload kicks in. Great app guys.

Thank you for your review! We're happy to be able to take the guesswork out of your training while keeping things feeling fresh. Definitely adjust the reps/weight as needed as you start out and you can also use the Exertion Rating after completing an exercise, this can help with improving those recommendations. More on the exertion rating here: https://fitbod.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/articles/360033133174-Exertion-Rating If you have additional feedback along the way, you can send that over to us at feedback@fitbod.me :)

Best on the market, room for Improvement

I really want to give this app 5 stars. No other strength training app has come close to the user experience of Fitbod for me. It has helped me tremendously with staying more consistent than ever in my fitness journey over at least the last six months. The written and visual instructions for exercises are bar none. The workouts continually keep you challenged with right amount of variability. If a piece of equipment is being used by someone else, I can swap for another one. If an exercise is not agreeing with my body, I can swap for another one. My first critique is the app continually changes my workout settings. It appears to be a bug. Customer success was unable to resolve this for me. It’s annoying. My second critique is, a while back I reached out for personal training advice and I never received a response. My last critique is I would like to see is stronger training and nutrition recommendations according to one’s specific health needs and goals. It’s nice to see the predetermined options to select from based on one’s fitness goals, but I think it can be even more personalized. I’ve been working my way out of “skinny fat” for a while and it would be nice to see a goal feature that focuses strictly on body recomposition. If that’s already an option, then it’s not made clear. Thank you for considering my feedback.

Fitbod review -Garmin

Really good app. Doesn’t connect to Garmin sadly. I have emailed them shout it. Fitbod responded to say if there were enough requests that they would approach Garmin to enable workouts to load to Garmin like they do to Strava. Please email Fitbod to request this!

I recommend the app.

Response from developer

Thanks for your review and recommendation, Rodger! I've noted your feedback down around a Garmin integration as well. There is a workaround as well where you can sync Fitbod and Garmin to Apple Health and this should allow data to pass between the two. We appreciate your feedback :)
