What’s the Matter?

After updates to include Matter all my Nano tech is not functioning. The App has completely non responsive to new updates. Yikes!

Great. When it’s working

Lights been fun. Worked for a long time then wouldn’t connect so used it as a normal bulb switching at the wall. Found how to reset the bulb with 5 power cycles and now it’s back working properly. Yay. Thanks Nanoleaf!!

Good but can be annoying

Hello I’m Bo1nker5 and I’m rating this a 4 out of 5 because although it’s good it doesn’t connect all the time even when I’m next to the Nano leafs but other the that it’s amazing.

Extremely Buggy & Bad UX

Idk what Nanoleaf has done, but over the last couple years their app has slowly gotten worse and worse. They moved a bunch of controls around which seemed to mimic the worse UX of the Lifx app (a company who clearly did not user test their app). Now with the difficulty of finding controls, there are tons of bugs in the app. The app will randomly crash upon opening, group scenes don’t update when you make changes to device colors or brightness levels within them. The app constantly reverts older controls. It’s a buggy mess. I would avoid Nanoleaf until they get back to the basics within their app.

Nanoleaf, your common user wants to set scenes and control their lights. You don’t need the flashy app animations, buttons should be more visible (everything is black and white and it’s impossible to know what is tappable and what isn’t), you should focus on making sure device changes stick. And please please please fix the device update bugs. Devices constantly fail to update with no reason and it requires a user to manually go back and try the update again. I don’t want to spend an afternoon checking an app to hit an update button over and over again.

Very good

Do recommend tbh

Fired from job

I set my nanoleafs to wake me up at 7am, the crazy rave mode I made did not go off. I woke up at 10am and had 3 missed calls from my boss (I’m fired) The next day when I didn’t even schedule them to wake me up, you guessed it. The rave mode started going so crazy the nanoleafs started to catch fire from overheating! So first my boss has fired me and now I’m homeless! (all jokes aside these are so worth it for the price ngl)

Don’t force me to integrate my home into your App

8/10 for the lights, 0 for the App. Why are you forcing users to sync their home with your app? It is totally unnecessary. I know I can select not to do this, but then I can’t use your app. So not really an option. I want to use your app to control your lights so I have access to all the cleaver stuff it can do that the Home App can’t. I don’t necessarily want it to be able to control my Hue lights through your app. So they don’t need to be imported. It’s also importing my air purifier, motion sensors and power points. None of which are lights. You can remove them from your app but unfortunately they are removed from my home as well. Nice. Make Home syncing an option not a necessity. The layout of the app is appalling, why is the text so ridiculously small? Why aren’t tiles wrapped to fit the screen? All in all it looks like the app was an afterthought.

more trouble than it’s worth

absolutely love the look of them and they let out nice lighting that is better than a lamp, unfortunately the app is a nightmare to connect and often doesn’t respond to the lights make them a nightmare to try and connect to especially haveing to tinker with the setting/reset every time i wanna use them, my biggest issue is with the power block thing, it lets out this high pitch ringing noise that is noticeable anywhere in the room and it drives me nuts! the only way to stop it is 1. turn the nanoleafs off, 2. have them super dim, 3. have the lights on a pure headache inducing white, honestly pretty disappointed with those things, other than that i really like them but i doubt i’ll buy again after this :(

Really bad app!

How one can delete scene? Who knows!
Also a “Magic scene” adds itself automatically to HomeKit and reappears after deleting it from HomeKit!
I’m using many apps that works with HomeKit but this one outstanding in his ability to connect to HomeKit lights and other devices even that it shows them in the app.
Zero from 5 stars for this app.

Software never works well

I have the nanoleaf original panels, and every time I play a scene, the lights freeze and do not continue the dynamic scene. It is frustrating and annoying. The app has barely been updated for years, and is difficult to use.
