Reviews of Lemonade Insurance

  • Prices = 👍, Customer Service = meh

If you signed up for a family policy and keep getting emails threatening parts of your coverage because somebody on the policy isn’t up-to-date on the app, you may have created an account for your family then given your family members the login info. Although the customer service representatives are not trained on how to rectify this issue, it is a simple fix once you figure it out. Your family needs to create individual logins, even though you’re going to be under the same policy number, and even though your family has watch your feed separate IP addresses from yours. Lemonade won’t tell you this, they will just continue sending threatening emails without any additional information other than “the app needs to be updated”, which isn’t even the problem. It took weeks to figure it out, but we finally resolved the issue, with no help from anyone at lemonade… who we were eventually able to contact by phone rather than email. Not easy to get in touch with a human, and they aren’t that helpful once you do. But the rates are stellar.

Hey there! Thanks for sharing your experience and for the tip on setting up individual logins. We're sorry for the hassle you went through and the communication gaps. We're always looking to improve, and your feedback is invaluable. If you need any more help, please DM us. Glad to hear you're enjoying our rates! ♥
  • Easy to use app, terrible customer service

It was easy enough to set up the app and insurance but going through with a claim has been a nightmare. I was given very little instruction on what information to provide and in what formats. When I finally dug through my records to provide what I thought was the right information they finally told me what I needed to provide and that everything I gave was wrong after hours of digging and a month of communication. When I first started the claim I missed 2 phone calls at 8am. I tried calling back and left 3 voicemails asking to talk to someone. This is my first claim so I wanted to talk to a human to figure out what to do and do it right. After those attempts i was never called back. I gave up calling and resigned to email. My bike was stolen that I had done modifications to. They are requesting I list in the police report all of the modifications as separate items. The police do not want that. The bike is a whole.

The robots are easy enough to follow but the human element is severely lacking. Good software but terrible customer service.

The process of filing a claim is not straightforward even though the robot system makes it out to be. Once you get to a human it’s laborious. I feel like I’m working a second job just to get this done.

  • Customer Service Subpar

It is nice they offer more affordable insurance compared to the bigger companies and I like that there’s no middle man, but when it actually comes to actually filing a claim. Your customer advocate is non-existent they call you once when you file your claim, but none of them have a personal email to contact if you have questions, they do have their own extension numbers. My advocates number always went directly to voicemail. Even went i left a couple of voicemails a week apart no one cares enough to call back. At one point it got switched to someone else because they called me to follow up on getting payments made, but again if you have a question and call them back never available. Then, my advocate got switched back to the original person, again, to follow up about payments. You’re working on their time when it comes to claims. If you have any questions, tough luck, call customer service they just either transfer you to your unavailable advocate or they’ll email them to contact you. It’s been almost 3 months and still impossible to talk to anyone. Easily, one of the worst customer service out there. I give it 2 stars for it’s affordability
