  • Very buggy!!

Funny things in life…when you’re not pressed for time, everything works fine and quickly. However, when you need it to work at that precise moment, it fails. This app is just like that!!! If you have apps open on your phone (I have the 14PM), it’ll work and sometimes not. Which means, sometimes I’ll have to close any open app for it to work. Of course, this happens when your hands are full of stuff, things falling off your shoulders while your trying to get the app to communicate with the sensor (this is elevator) which is located beneath all the elevator buttons!! Just wants to make you loose your sh.t!! This app needs to correct this bug! So irritating!!!

  • Widgets broken again!

Sad to say this but the last 2 versions of Latch (2.95.0 & 2.95.1) have seriously broken the widget. It does nothing now except display a SETUP button. When clicked, it shows my saved doors in edit panel, but once scrolled up, it goes back to setup. I work and live in a Latch-enabled community with both an exterior and interior garage door system. The exterior door has a reader mounted that you can get to from your car window, however the INTERIOR door reader is mounted so far away you have to exit your vehicle to get to it. You really need to widget to gain access. Happens the same on my iPhone 13 and 15 both running different versions iOS.

  • Super unreliable considering it’s supposed to replace physical keys

My entire apartment building operates on Latch. It’s a joke with everyone in the halls and elevator that the ‘stupid app is not working again’. Not the feeling of reliability you need when accessing your building/home. Our power went out recently and half the entrances to the building turned off (not connected to the generator I guess).

My primary issue (which I’ve mentioned before in reviews) is that the widgets are constantly changing. The app is pretty much useless to me without the widget, bc the Bluetooth readers are unreliable and I need to go through 4+ locked doors no matter what path I take through my building. Often the only widget available just opens the app up - why? I like the black button widget that does not launch the app each time I open a door.

  • No Apple Wallet support

The app by itself works okay and personally I have no connectivity issues (connection is not in the blink of an eye but it’s reasonably fast).

Sometimes the widget glitches and shows set up instead of the door that has already been set up, and takes a few open-and-closes to get it working again.

The biggest gap this app still has to cover is Apple Wallet support. Knowing other brands simply allow the user to hold the phone near the lock and have it work seamlessly makes me realize how inconvenient it is to unlock my phone, close any app that I might have open on the foreground, go to the widget page on the home screen and then press the unlock button and wait for the app to connect. This is especially inconvenient when you’re carrying grocery bags or other stuff on both hands.

  • I really wish my apt complex had never switched to these locks…

I love all connective technology. The app, however, is finicky and once again it’s not letting me set up the widget. Or better, it was set up, but it keeps deleting my set up. Of course, this only happens when your hands are full or you’re driving up to the gate and then can’t easily unlock it.
The app randomly has logged me out and bc we have terrible reception inside the apartment complex, I’ve had to, hands full of stuff I was carrying, leave the building, all the way downstairs to re-log in outside where I had cell reception.
I can also never use the app twice without having to completely exit it, or else it won’t connect to any of the locks when you hold the phone near.
Not to mention, how easy it is to lock yourself out unless you memorize the codes.
I just want my old keys back…

  • Lacks Apple Wallet Integration

To open doors to my apartment building, I have to get my phone out, unlock it, open the Latch App, and click the button for that specific door as I’m approaching or hold my phone next to the door for a few seconds until it unlocks. You can also setup shortcuts for Siri via the Shortcuts App or download the Latch Widget. However, you can’t just grab your phone out of your pocket and hold it next to the lock like Apple Pay so it gets really annoying after awhile. The Latch Widget also gets screwed up all the time and I kept having to delete and reinstall it so I finally gave up. Using shortcuts to open the door with Siri is the best option but it only works on the building entrances and Latch won’t allow me to create a shortcut for my apartment door. Overall, it’s stupid and the apartment complex might as well have stayed with the fob because I still have to carry it to get in and out of the parking garage. I was really looking forward to this upgrade but I feel like it was actually a downgrade. Sad.

  • Newest release ruined widgets :(

Use to really enjoy the widget experience, saved me from opening the app. Latest release, using a widget triggers opening the app and at the same time makes it hard to use your preferred doors. Have to close the app repeatedly to get through my apartment building now. Hopefully this will be reverted soon. Edit: the team at Latch was quick to improve the widget! Now I can have 10 saved doors all available without opening the app :) This is awesome, please keep moving in this direction Edit 2: I am sad to be back updating my review again! The widget that allows you to open multiple saved doors WITHOUT launching the app is gone again. This has slowed down how I enter my apartment building significantly. If the product team wants to learn more about my experience I am happy to share. EDIT 3: thank you Latch gods, the good widget is back 😁

  • Loading….

This app is great!… But their or some negative features. The app sometimes glitches and takes a while to load .. The longest is a minute but I feel the door should AUTOMATICALLY open. If there was to be an emergency, I wouldn’t make it inside quickly or safely. There should also be a face ID for people who come in and out the house/ apartment often. In my opinion 5-10 people can have a face ID, 10 could be the limit. If you cannot make a face ID made their can be a hand/ palm or finger print handle or button to open the door AUTOMATICALLY. It shouldn’t take a few seconds or minutes for my door to open. Please fix the timing of the door opening it’s insane that it’s doesn’t open automatically. This also makes this unsafe for the environment especially because this door feature is becoming popular. Please fix this. Please and Thank You. 🙂
