Motion time lapse needs attention.
I use the crane 2 for motion time lapse and the thing that bothers me the most with the app is that you cannot close the app or have any disruption of any kind I.E. phone call, text, phone overheating, closing the app, locking phone.....any disruption and your 10 min, 30 min, 1 hour or any other motion time lapse stops immediately and goes to starting point. It’s not fun when you have a great time lapse, almost finished, got to the best part and it stops when you invested so much time and have to restart or abandon the shot.
If the app could work in the background during the time lapse without stopping that would be awesome but alas that’s not the case

Not ready for prime time
I was really excited about my smooth 4 gimbal. This thing advertises all these amazing features but simply doesn’t deliver. In particular the app loses connection to the gimbal regularly and my most glaring issue is the object tracking. Pan left and right stutters and doesn’t track but tilt does. So disappointed. Contacted customer support on Facebook and they said it’s a software issue. So why would you put a bad app or feature into production?Show lessAzad814
It’s better than you think
Zhiyun Play for the Smooth 4 is not bad. If anything it’s overly simplistic considering the hardware of the Smooth 4. I would like to see a love histogram, custom white balance, focus peaking and higher quality output in an update. Also, Zhiyun should collaborate with Filmic Pro or Mavis. How to fix the shakes/lag
This review is for iPhone 6s Plus and the Smooth 4.
I'm seeing a ton of reviews saying the video on their iPhone is very jittery or laggy.
I initially noticed this as well but ironically after turning off the antishake setting in the app - my IQ is way better. The way it's been explained to me on several YT videos is that the cameras themselves in the iPhones have their own image stabilizers and by turning ON the anti shake your actually introducing the jitter.
Turn this setting off and try it again and see if that fixes it. It has so far for me. I had to put the phone into landscape to view this setting.Show lessAE061231
25fps at 1080 Please!
Great app to use with my Smooth 4 and Smooth Q. There are plenty of manual features that you’ll find in top end video apps such as Filmic Pro. I do have a couple of gripes though. There’s no setting to record at 25fps in 1080p, 30fps is the minimum. You can record 25fps in 4K but we don’t all want to film in 4K (or have a powerful enough computer to deal with 4K for that matter which is my issue)! The Smooth 4 is marketed as a filmmakers gimbal so 25fps at 1080p is a must! Offering that and also a flat or log profile would be the icing on the cake for me in this app. I have that feature with Filmic Pro but the caveat with using Filmic Pro over Zhiyun Play on the Smooth 4 is that most of the functions on the gimbal won’t work, such as the brilliant rack focus/zoom wheel. Would be great if Filmic Pro and Zhiyun could work together on this. My other gripe is that the object tracking feature is terrible on the Smooth 4. It has a really hard time tracking objects. One step forward, one step back
Great to see the fix for wrong screen orientation when switching between front and rear camera, but now I have no option for slow motion video. Why on earth did you remove this function? My iPhone SE is perfectly capable of slow motion video. Please reinstate this feature I the next update.Apple iJunkie
Really Impressed
Just got the Smooth 4 and the app is working fine without any issues on an iPhone 7 Plus.
The gimbal itself feels nice quality and does the job with smooth movement as expected. The app allows video up to 4K with two frames rates and HDR photography.
My only criticism isn’t of the app but of the lack of interface between the gimbal and other video or photography applications e.g Filmic and RAW photography as some configuration options are missing.
It would be nice to be able to trigger photos or record from the gimbal controls to other 3rd party apps.

Good app with great potential
I’ve been using the app for a month now, there’s little to complain about possibly the way the footage is stored separately and has to be saved to your photos would be simpler if the footage was saved directly as it takes up more storage and time otherwise it’s a great app,Willwilsonphoto
Incomplete Crane 2 Support
I use the app with the Crane 2, and it cannot trigger the shutter. This makes the app significantly less useful. Also, the timelapse feature (I can use this by disconnecting the camera from the gimbal and starting the video/intervalometer manually) does’t calculate times properly. It can be tricked into working by sliding the settings to custom, but come on, that’s pathetic. Not only that, but the moving timelapse feature finishes in half the time it’s set to, so you have to take this into account and double your inputs. These are elementary bugs, and it’s very frustrating. The manual control of the gimbal’s movement works excellently.Show lessZephyryx
Great hardware. Unusable software.
I recently got a Crane 2 and it works great with my 5D4. However, the ZY Play app, which is required for many of the more advanced features of the quick, is completely unusable. The motion time lapse feature is broken in multiple ways. The camera angle control is way too sensitive to be useful. And the overall design makes it confusing and difficult to tell if the features are truly broken or if it’s user error. I’m excited about my new gimbal, but this app needs a lot of work before it’s even worth using.Show lessJohnny Toll
