Most user friendly and affordable cad software don’t ever change
Works across multiple devices Windows, Mac and iOS , simple to use with out needing to be a rocket engineer . If you do 3d printing Shapr3D is a must have!
Fantastic App but…
I find this to be a great piece of software especially with the cloud based syncing between iPad and pc, I have 0 cad experience and find it extremely intuitive as well as the little instructional videos to get you started with the basics but… I am a 3D printer novice and cad beginner and while I find these features fantastic you cannot justify the £300 a year fee that would be fine if I was using this software to make real world applications and profiting from using such tools but why can you not do a one off licence fee for the hobbyist level and remove a few features like visualiser and such that a business would utilise?

Too high a price for the hobbyist
The ceo is living in a dreamworld, his responses to users complaining about the price was disgusting. This is not a great product for professional users, its simply a fun hobbyist app, i would pay immediately if it was 10usd a month, but not 30.. you would make a lot more by reducing your price to be affordable… and the ceo responded by saying its only the price of a few coffees a month.. sick response from a ceo. Very unprofessional.. product is good for basic hobbyists but it is no where near the professional grade of most other products. You would be LAUGHED at to use this for any professional paid commission. 0 stars because of the CEO. Realistically 3.5/5 for the product, taking into consideration it wont win professional users at this stage. Nothing beats the pc development apps, and yes.. there is many free ones before the ceo tries to refer me to those as he has done before. Grow up ceo.

Great app but pricing doesn’t support creators
This is the gold standard for getting creative with an Apple Pencil. I’ve used it for various woodworking and construction projects at home over the last year and loved it. Unfortunately, with the pricing increasing drastically I won’t be continuing to subscribe. I wish there was a tier between free which doesn’t let me print 2d plans and the full on version. As a hobbyist not generating an income and only using this every few weeks or months as I complete a project and move to the next it’s just not justifiable to spend so much when that money could go to the projects themselves. I hope to see this change in future. I haven’t deducted points because ultimately that has no bearing on what a great product this is.

Not worth it at all
The app itself is easy to use. My problem is the fact that most people looking to make some designs on an iPad probably aren’t doing it for a business and it’s outrageous for a company to demand $300 a year if I simply would like to make a case for my Apple Pencil or make a replacement joint for a baby playpen. Take the materials/colors out, limit it to 3 designs, heck even 1-3 designs to export per week, charge $10 a month max, and call it the hobbyist plan, or else it’s just a complete rip off that no individual can afford or else they’d just do modeling with their computers that cost less than this after a few years or less. This is 100% useless if you don’t pay their $300 so they can get some nice Mercedes. Couldn’t even design my Apple Pencil case because it wouldn’t let me add any more lines or anything, and certainly can’t make the joint for the playpen because you can only export crap that looks like you made it in Minecraft. Don’t know a single person who uses this app because most 3d modeling is free on pc. These people are absolutely selfish and I don’t recommend this app for anyone who plans on designing something as super duper complicated as an Apple Pencil case or anyone who plans on doing more than just staring at the design, unless you make as much money as the people at this company who are ripping it out of people’s pockets.

I’m not impressed
The app 1. Cost £150 a year or am i wrong? It’s £200 pounds a year for the pro version for let me tell you basically everything cause for the free version you can’t colour stuff and can’t visualise anything and for 2. The app is basically impossible to use because you have to tap with your pencil to select something which I don’t like since i sometimes tend to select a shape with my fingers and also its very hard for when you mess up its quite hard to go back i know there is an undo button but that has its problems and when Angling something when you tap of by accident you can’t go back easily i ended up deleting my whole 3d house because of this. This is a good app but has some downsides its better to use another 3d modelling app.

Intuitive and Fast CAD Software
Coming from a background of Fusion 360 and Tinkercad (because Fusion 360 does not run well on Apple Silicon Macs), this is a great software with a reasonable number of functions - fast gesture based sketching using Apple Pencil, easy access to common tools like fillet, chamfer, and various boolean operations, and a very easy to use export system with an impressive number of formats. I now use Shapr3D to design parts that I 3D print because it’s significantly faster than working with Fusion or other software.
However: Rotation is nothing like other CAD programs I’ve used. Rotating on the screen does not rotate around a fixed point (ie. not orbit) - thus, if you rotate many times in a single axis, your camera will have actually shifted position. Turning on two finger rotation in the settings does not help. This sounds highly inconvenient, and it is when only viewing models, but when actually working I found myself needing to readjust so much anyway that this doesn’t actually matter too much - but it is really disorienting as a new user.

Great app, but with some frustrations
I’ve been using Shapr3D for several years now and have been a big advocate of its usability, particularly the way this tool can bridge the gap from a novice to a very experienced CAD designer and intuitively allow each to grow and Improve. However many of the frustrations that were excusable years ago are becoming less acceptable as the subscription cost a has climbed.
A great example is the lack of any way to sort, classify, organise or search for your designs within the app. As someone with many hundreds of designs within Shapr3D I often find myself spending frustrating amounts of time searching through a massive list of designs trying to find what I’m after. It may seem like a small problem but the app has several of these small oversights that begin to add up. Despite promises for almost 4 years on the Shapr3D support forum that simple features like the ability to create a folder are on the way, the developers seem to continually overlook these basic features.
I’m therefore a little torn on my opinion of Shapr3D. It really does has a lot to offer, but after a while you may (like me) begin to ask yourself that if they can’t seem to implement some of the basics - is it going to be the tool for you into the long term.

Great Features on the Basic Version!!!
I had my doubts, because I heard many of the features were hid behind the paywall, but after installing this and trying it out, I was pleasantly surprised by the amount of capability available in the free basic version! You are limited to only two projects open at once, but you can save projects, close them, and then reopen them when you need to work with them again, so that’s not as big of a drawback as I thought it would be. Of course, I’m a beginner at 3D CAD software, but this app is very intuitive and has been pretty easy to learn! The app developers have done a great job at making this easy to learn, even though it’s loaded with complex features! I like the initial interactive tutorial that shows you how to use the tools! I’d highly recommend this to anyone who wants to do CAD design on the iPad, and I hope more apps like this come to the iPad! 👍🏻

Still buggy after years
I took a break from Shapr3D for a year or 2. Downloaded to see what’s up lately. Still as buggy as ever. As an example, I import a relatively simple step file. I swipe my finger upward on the screen, and the model rotates upward. I swipe my finger left on the screen, and the model rotates counterclockwise instead of to the left. I had a huge list of bugs that caused me to leave Shapr3D, and the very first test I tried, which is the most basic functionality, is still the same broken input as when I left. I love a lot of things about this app, but I just cannot use it for anything other than sometimes to view models I’m working on in Fusion (since Fusion’s mobile app is,… I’m not even sure what the point of it is really). Oh, I guess I did test out one more thing. I tried to import a Fusion file, and it doesn’t work even though it says it should on the website. Not sure if I’m reading that wrong or another bug. Anyway, I would love to use this app if it weren’t so buggy; I think it is the kind of app that increases the value of these fancy iPad Pros, but it just isn’t turning out to be possible.
