Excellent

Mobile control of home security

Excellent

Same experience as using the web interface and lets you bring your phone into Home Assistant, excellent app.

HA is great, but…

controls frequently go invisible on the iOS app until I force close and reload it (e.g., buttons on cards, icons for dashboard icons)

Best on the market

Beats Apple, Google and other common home control/automation systems hands down.

Due to local control that is indepenant of the cloud it is far more reliable and totally instant responsiveness. Also, 200% more customizable.

Needs more setup but totally worth it.

Great premise and overall good

Overall a good solution, but there are a few issues that constantly creep up. Constant updates, compatibility constantly breaking, server side requiring constant updates. The whole point of HA is to have control of one’s own IOT. Let people stay on a stable environment for their home, getting exhausting every time an update on the server side is downloaded and pending it eventually forces an update and am afternoon of fighting to get zigbee devices all working and the integration to load.

Waste of time

I have to restart the server (raspberry pi 3 / 4) every few hours. I started with a raspberry pi 3, thought that it may be outdated, then bought a raspberry pi 4 and set up the OS on that. That was still no better. Each time I set it up it works fine for a few hours and then it’s nowhere to be found on my IOS app. I have to go unplug the server each time to reboot it only forward to work for a few more hours. The same thing happens on my laptop and my LG tablet. I thought this was supposed to eliminate apps, instead I have to keep all the original apps as well as this useless app that only works when it wants to. Reddit and Discord hasn’t been any help so far as all
My questions get skipped over and I never get a response. I feel like I have wasted countless hours trying to set up a miracle app that everyone swore would be my end all solution, when Alexa already worked 100 times better, and only took seconds to set up. At least now I have two raspberry pi’s that are free. The original one I plan on using as a server for my outside security system like I did before. The other, who knows, maybe I’ll finally emulator I’ve always wanted. All I know is I am done with Home Assistant.

Does everything you need for a smart home!

I recommend using a raspberry pi with it. Dig around a bit as it’s easy to use but takes a bit to get used to. After adding devices to it you can bridge them to home kit it works perfectly.

Worth the install

Typical person who doesn’t review anything, but HA is TRULY worth it. Once you start, it’s a bit confusing (well for me, setting up the automations) to understand but then everything falls into place and it’s the best thing to have. Like I can just freely check HA instead of going to each smart devices dedicated app

APPS Menu Broken on iPhone on latest version

Up until this version I rated the app highly and used daily on my iPhone 11 Pro Max running iOS 16.1. However, now if you go into an App you can’t get out of the Apps menu. The back arrow just sends you back to the App. In the app it sends you back to the Apps menu in an endless loop.
Rebooting the phone sometimes gets you out of the loop, but not always. I’m not seeing this on my PC so don’t think it’s HA itself.

Fantastic

Nice to have a platform that can be adjusted and manipulated to suit the user rather than a perceived easy “suit all”.
