  • Excellent ear training app

I am really enjoying this app. It has helped me identify some gaps I have and provided me with a more deliberate way to improve my ear. I like the variety of options: intervals (melodic up and down, harmonic), chord identification, chord progressions, rhythm, melodic dictation, etc.

This app provides me two major benefits:
    1. It will (hopefully) turn my pretty good ear into a great ear.
    2. It is helping me get some structured ideas of how to teach ear training to my piano students. (Something I have struggled with for a long time)

It has definitely been worth the cost so far. Once I master the General Workshop exercises I will definitely be buying the Jazz Workshop.

  • Getting my BFA in music

This is a great way to nail down fundamental elements of music
  • Only app like it.

    Highly recommend.
  • Best ear training app

Absolutely the best app of its kind. It may seem a little pricey at first glance, but it is worth every penny and nothing will give you the results this will.
  • A Really Handy Ear Trainer!

I can do this anywhere I’m not embarrassed to be singing random notes! It is improving my note recognition and sight reading.
  • Great ET app

I would give this five stars if, on the teacher’s end, EM allowed tonic six-four chords, especially at cadences. I suppose it would also be nice to have a couple more options: 1) the ability to specify all inversions for user-defined chord progressions, and 2) a module that allowed students to identify soprano and bass factors in chord progressions. Other than those concerns, it’s a 5 in my book!

Thank you for your feedback. These are already high-priority entries on our to-do list, so they will eventually make their way to the App :)
  • Perfect review of high school music theory

I play an instrument and had piano lessons, so some of the material about learning rhythms was too easy, but those lessons helped me understand how the app works. I love the gentle pace of the ear training. I went to a music camp where many of the other campers had a lot more ear training and new solfeg, so I am using this to prepare me for next year.

  • Serious App for the pro musician

I love this app. I am a professional musician and need to keep my sight reading chops up. I use it to practice odd meters 7/8, 6/8 etc. I don't read a lot of music with odd meters so when it does happen I'm ready. You can completely customize the time signature and metronome clicks. Congrats to EarMaster ApS!!!

  • Some bugs still need fixing

Downloaded this app, found some bugs. Wrote a bad review stating the problem. The app developers contacted me stating that they fixed the bugs. So I re-downloaded the app. Part of the problem was fixed, but I'm still having the same issues. In the interval identification section, when I go to check my answers and I click on the multiple choice buttons, the interval played doesn't match the interval written. Very confusing, and I'm not a beginner!

  • ok execution, but lag and lack of instruction is frustrating

this seems like it could be really helpful, but I often have a delay in hearing notes when I start playing the on screen keyboard. thinking it didn't register, I play the note again, then hear 2 notes play and see it recorded both.

also it's not at all clear that you have to toggle "rest", then tap on the staff to enter the rest on some quizzes.. honestly I'd rather just have a timer and metronome like other quizzes in this app.

I'd like to get more out of this, but don't see value in paying in the current state. I'll keep looking for a better solution
