  • What I’ve been looking for!

I am a beginner at Japanese and I have been looking for reading material at my level. This app is exactly what I was looking for and so much more. Not only can you read, play audio, look up words and translate as you go, but you can also save new words, study flash cards and export your vocabulary lists to use elsewhere! There is also a section of more difficult reading materials but I will check that out once I reach a higher level.

So happy a friend recommended this!

  • Great for keeping up Japanese reading comprehension

Excellent source for short articles that allow you to see more commonly seen phrases and writing in modern day Japan. The videos with the subtitles are great...when they work. I have received the error message 90% of the time. Would like to see an update to resolve this. I think it might be an API issue.

    Edit: they fixed the videos!

  • Great app for studying Japanese

Articles updated daily, lots of options to choose from. I’ve yet to explore everything available on this app even though I use it everyday.

  • Are the JLPT certificates real?

Is it the same if I got to take the test at a test centre?

    Developer Response

Hello. The certificate is only confirm by the app. If you go to the center you need todo other test. The test on the app is for practice.

  • Excellent App!

But when I click a word for definition, after I close the definition page, it still shows up after I swipe up or down, and there is no way to close it. Please fix this problem, thank you! Otherwise, it’s a wonderful app.

    Developer Response

  • Does everything I need

Hi app author! thanks for the response. Do you have an email address? Or maybe you can add a contact form to the app? I don’t think I can add images to a review

I do really like this app.

The authors kindly implemented my last suggestion.

Hopefully I can ask for another:
The easy access dictionary entries lead with the part of speech information. I think it’s important to have access to this but I don’t think it needs to be so prominent. The meaning entry is good to be highlighted in orange but I think the verbose part of speech info clutters the appearance. I.e. I feel the space taken by information should be roughly proportional to how used/useful it is.
I think switching the order would be fine so meaning comes first, or making the part of speech info part of the view more section?

Once again thanks for a great app!

    Fixed! —

Id love it if it also allowed either a long press or a double tap or 3D Touch to look up words in the dictionary. At the moment it’s long press then choose copy which is a bit clunky.
Interestingly it does have tap to lookup the orange highlighted words but there seems to be no control over which ones are orange highlighted. And that seems to be only on the basic articles.
