  • Good, but…

This is a fairly essential app for Pokémon Go players to find the highest stat product PVP IVs and then easily renaming things so you can find them later. It also has features for finding remote raids and for simulating fights against raid bosses using things you’ve scanned, although I don’t use these features.

However, for the past few months the live IV scanning functionality has not been working for me, receiving “Live Broadcast to Poke Genie IVision has stopped due to: Attempted to start
an invalid broadcast session” - I suspect this issue is possibly iOS killing the app in the background, but mitigations like restarting my phone or turning off native FPS in Go don’t seem to help. It’d be a perfect 5*s without this issue, and it seems fairly specific to my device.

If you have access to a non-Apple device, I would strongly recommend purchasing there instead/as well, as it can be significantly faster going through a large group of Pokémon without some of the platform limitations on the iOS version (the other version can use an overlay while the iOS version has to rely on notifications, and the overlay can be much faster to pull in information) - when it worked, I’d use the iOS version for e.g. quick checks on community days while out and about, still keeping my autocatcher going, while the other version would be reserved for longer checks at home.

  • Fantastic.

I have had this app for a few months and it is truly awesome. Pokémon guard can be difficult for me to keep playing as I spend over half of my calendar year living off the road system. Living in bush alaska I have zero pokestops or gyms so the only way I can raid is via remote passes. That being said, this app has turkey made my life significantly easier! I use to use Reddit, and although Reddit is a great platform, achieving consistent remote raids is very difficult. This app takes away all the complexities and structures players so they are a number in line for the raid of their choice. If you loose your place in line some how, the app compensates! You can also host which is equally as simple and reliable. There is always raids to be joined and this app flawlessly facilitates that! I’ve made plenty of friends from around the world and have been able to raid over and over again. I can manage to fit in 3-4 raids in one 30min lucky egg time. 80,000xp has never been easier to achieve. Obviously you have to be reliable yourself on the app and if you prove to be UNreliable the app will give you the boot too. Great stuff, love it lots. 10/10 would recommend to any avid Pokémon go player out there, especially those of you who are in ticky locations. I was skeptical but I feel I’ve used the app enough times to actually write a review (which I never do) soooo check it out maaaaannn. ~mic drop~

  • Stupid recent updates

Everything was good before but recent updates about remote raid they started to record if you left raid directly.

So everytime a stupid host didn’t show up I have to wait 180 seconds!! Normally you can tell if the host gonna show up if you check the host actually added you as a friend. If there is 60 seconds left and no friend added probably the host not gonna show up. So just let me left the raid and join the next one to saving my lucky eggs time!

Also. If you host the raid and someone sent you the request but forget to return back to the app. It’s still gonna show ‘ joined but not ready’. In that status you can’t start the raid to let them know okay u forgot to click that stupid button but you added me now we are good to go. Instead you have to wait for 2 mins so the system will kick that stupid guy out and waiting for a new player to join. 30 mins lucky egg I could spent 15 mins on these stupid stuff! Why the host can not just force the raid to start!!

  • Brilliant app!

Poke genis is a genius app! It’s perfect for anyone who can’t get out everyday to go raiding or who plays pokemon with little irl friends, it matches you with people across the globe in order to successfully battle and take down epic raid pokemon. Before poke genie I have no legendary pokemon, I now have 10!! And I’ve only been playing for a few months. I am also physically disabled and I feel so much more included in the game, as I’m no longer constantly missing out on amazing and rare pokemon due to being unable to go outside. Thank you devs!!

  • Raid system

What almost everyone gets this for is the raid system. The remote raids are cool and all, but it’s wildly frustrating to enter a queue of 10,000 and wait 3.5 hours to actually join a raid, just for the host to drop and me be put into a priority queue for a raid that’s already full. I wasted almost 4 hours waiting on this raid just to be told I can’t because there are too many players already and be forced to rejoin the queue of now 20,000 with absolutely nothing to help me. I even told the questionnaire on the app that I was kicked for it being too full and all I got was a “sorry. We’ll try better next time” and seemingly no customer support. I don’t want your sorry, I want another priority queue. Other times im completely unable to join because my damage contribution isn’t high enough, even though it is and other areas of the app tell me so. What a joke honestly.

  • Please allow booting people from raids

Hi, your app is great in general but it’s really frustrating when you wait a long time to host a raid lobby and then someone says they’re ready in the lobby but does not send a friend invite. This happens way too often and I am forced to cancel the whole raid and start again, waiting in the lobby queue all over again. Simply allowing hosts to kick people who have not sent an invite would resolve this issue.

  • Too many abusers

You wait hours to do a raid boss just to get matched with some AH who needs to get some friend requests real quick and never actually invites you to raid. You report them as such and what does the app do? Absolutely nothing to punish them and instead punish you by making you have to rejoin the que at the very end of the line. More often than not if there’s a popular raid boss the hosts you get matched with will be a gamble. If there anything over 1k you’re better off just buying lotto tickets because the devs keep letting the same ppl pretend to host a boss and press the button that they invited everyone yet they didn’t even bother hosting the raid. Needs to be fixed because it’s an otherwise excellent app. The screen recording is a little wonky and will just end on its own without notice but that’s hardly an inconvenience compared to waiting 4-8 hours to do a raid boss just to get matched with a loser who doesn’t invite and have to reenter the line at the very end. Would be nice if they actually banned those trainer IDs but actually doing something about them is clearly too much work.

    Developer Response

Your post-raid feedback (no invite) indeed helps the system penalize the misbehaving host. Bad hosts are actually suspended very quickly. Unfortunately in this case, no individual retry opportunity can be given without it being abused (guests would be incentivized to lie to retry multiple times, and make the wait times much longer; and unfair to hosts). The system offers retry queue when it knows for CERTAIN that the host made mistake inside Poke Genie. The game itself also currently has a bug that prevents some trainers from receiving invitations. If IVision stop frequently, please make sure the device is sufficiently charged, and that the total scan does not exceed 5000.
  • Great App, but one suggestion.

Sometimes you can be sitting in a queue for hours and the feeling of losing your spot because the queue pops at an non-opportune time is simply the worst. Can a function be added to pause our spot in the queue if we know we will need to be away from our phone for a short period of time? That way we can stay in our spot and allow others who are actively ready to join a raid get there quicker, without having to restart all over again. I don’t feel there is any way that this would be abused or exploited and would be a quality of life change for everyone. Faster queues, actually getting into the raids you queue for, hosts not having to deal with players not joining, etc. Thanks for your continued work on making the app better, this change would make it perfect for me.

  • Raid

Sérieux j'ai du attendre 10 minutes pour faire un raid et vous m'envoyer même pas la notification que je suis placer dans un raid faque j'ai été kick out de votre liste d'attente... merci pokegenie 🙄

    Developer Response

Please make sure your Internet connection is stable and without any VPN/firewall restrictions. Sometimes when the internet connection is intermittent, Push Notification delivery would be delayed, and when you tap on it, the 45 second would have already expired. If you don't get any push notifications, please make sure "do not disturb" is disabled in iOS settings, and that Poke Genie is granted permission to send notifications.
  • Fantastic app for any PoGo raider

This app does it all once you make the in-app purchases. Rates your Pokémon, let’s you figure out the best teams to use for raiding and PVP, and even has a built-in Raid-finder tool for remote raids to help organize and find remote raids. Best of all everything is on the up-and-up. No exploits or sketchy stuff that can get your account into trouble. I can raid any time if the day from all over the world and the app’s notification system helps everyone organize quickly and efficiently.

My only complaints are the screenshot scanners. Manual imports only do one sceenshot at a time, which seems like an easy enough feature to enhance with multi-select. Auto-scanner imports a lot of false positives, like screenshots of text messages. The IVision feature is handy but randomly crashes all the time on my iPhone XS Max. Since there’s no error message indicating why it halted screen recording, there’s nothing for the user to do to prevent it from happening in the future.

Complaints aside I still love this app. It’s 5-star worthy but still has some room to improve.
