  • A snapshot of everyday life

I’ve been using Minutiae for 2 years now and love going through my own photos to see memories and how life has changed. I look forward to finishing and buying a book with all my photos at the end.
  • I still love this app

Currently, I have 469 captured moments, 298 missed moments, and 673 left. This app forces me to take a cursory glance at everything around me to snap the most interesting thing I can see. Often, it’s late and dark and the only photo that will get enough light is my window. So there are many photos of that. I try to give my photos composition and color. I love scrolling through other people’s pictures. Most people have no idea how to compose a photo. Maybe these same people don’t have Instagram. Twice I was paired with the same person, so twice I got to see his photos. He lives in Boston and is a caterer or chef or definitely works in the food service industry. I love puzzling and piecing together the lives of people. I’ve seen gambling addicts or maybe they work at the casino. It’s true, the lives of people is mostly mundane. I love it. I love seeing it. I love this app. Sometimes, mostly, I wish people were better at taking photos.

  • Love this app!

I’ve been using this app for well over a year and I love it! I get excited when I hear the alert go off (and hope I’m doing something fun!) I love looking back at my old pictures, mundane as they may be—they’re fond memories of what’s important in my life and what my life is truly about. There may be times I get annoyed I’m not taking “fun” pictures, but riding that wave out and sticking with the project through thick and thin is also part of the experience. I feel like I’m growing as a person too, by staying committed to the app and taking my pictures!

At this point I have friends and coworkers sharing in the fun too! They all know I’m doing this, as I’ve pulled out my phone to take a picture many times during meetings, etc. I see my coworkers in the hallway and one of the things I’m always asked is “did you take your picture yet today??” :)

What a cool idea, I’m so happy I stumbled across this app! Highly recommended!

  • Nothing Like It

Going into this project you think it will take up a lot of your time. However, it’s quite the opposite. It becomes a natural part of your day and it takes little to no time whatsoever. It’s really cool to view the moments from a stranger across the globe or sometimes from the next town over. It makes me feel connected to others in a way I never imagined before.

If I could change something, it would be that if we miss moments, they just don’t show up instead of a black screen.

  • AMAZING APP

good concept, love seeing my photos, love seeing people from across the world’s photos. If you’re into documenting the smaller moments in life, or anything about your life, this is the app for you. My kind of art project <3
  • Pure joy

Any minute of our entire busy day this app will notify you to take a photo of whatever you’re doing, whatever you’re seeing, whatever you’re watching. If I catch it quick enough, I’ll position my camera to take an awesome shot. If I’m rushed I’ll quick snap a photo of the view I see. I love reminiscing in old photos I took through this app. I love seeing other people’s lives for just a minute; really puts things into perspective.

Love this app, brings joy to me daily!

  • Love the concept, love the app

I’ve been on this app for over two and a half years now. It has captured so many fun times - moving to Paris, getting a puppy, getting married, moving house twice. I always manage to miss the best holiday moments but that’s the whole point. Can’t wait to look back on my ‘everyday’ one day and immortalise all the things that I’d otherwise forget about. Will happily do this project forever if I can!

  • Enlightening

I get really excited whenever I get a notification from the app, I love seeing what people all around the world are doing and sharing snapshots of my life with others as well. It’s a good reminder that real life is imperfect and that moments may pass quickly but memories can last forever.
  • Disappointed after 2 years

Capturing mundane, everyday moments is a beautiful concept and why I enthusiastically downloaded, without second guessing the hefty price tag. Getting away from picture perfect squares was initially refreshing. I have been using the app for over 2 years now ...but 360 captured moments 540 missed moments later, I’m feeling like deleting the app all together.

It has become disruptive and more of annoyance - imposing effort, interruption, and time into moments that I would like to just be present. Im sad because I was so excited initially about this app. But it has failed at what I wanted to get out of it: Documenting life’s ordinary moments while trying to be more present.

For those really looking to get away from social media and being more present, this is not the app - perhaps the only answer is putting our phones away.

  • pure social media

Honestly the only ‘social‘ app I use I don’t constantly ask myself if I should delete. Brilliant concept, wonderfully executed.
