  • Awesome App

Been using it for years now. Downloaded my gallery after 1440 days, and bought it again the next day. I feel like at this point my family would miss me randomly yelling “minutiae!!!” And then running towards them with the camera ready to shoot.
  • The best thing I can say

You know when an app inevitably gives you a pop up asking you to rate it? If you’re anything like me you either treat that moment with an benign dismissal or a strait up “eff this app” depending on how many times you’ve already gotten it. Well after god knows how long, a year or two, Minutiae finally asked to rate it… and for once I’m rating and reviewing because that’s how much happiness this app bring me.

On most days this app gives me 60 seconds to capture a real moment or challenges me to spark some in the moment creativity. And I’m feeling the nostalgia of a single minute from my own past or briefly looking in on a stranger’s present and past each day and feeling connected beyond my bubble of only for a minute. Time feels insanely repetitive and flat and immeasurable and dumb these days but this app gives you a minute each day that manages to set itself apart from the rest and that’s something.

  • Best photo companion app

A truely satisfying experience. Go by your guts and point and shoot something at the a most random moment with a timer ticking away. You feel that spontaneity, kind of like shooting on film.
  • Everyone gets an alert at the same time

This is a cool little app. At least once each day, you will get an alert from Minutia. You have 1 minute to respond, and 5 seconds to take a photo.

It can happen anywhere, anytime. You can see a random person’s photos for a minute after talking yours, and other people can see your photos.

It’s neat to see what else is going on around the world at just that one minute.

  • Fantastic app

Really helps me remember to enjoy ALL the moments in a day, not just the ones that are perfectly staged.
  • Amazing and incredible.

I’ve just completed my minutiae and I’m going to start all over again once I’ve downloaded my pictures. Matching with people all over the world is incredible. Looking back on my moments over the last three and a half years is an amazing opportunity. Thank you for making it.
  • Brilliant, creative, fun

Love this app. It injects a tiny burst of fun, serendipity, creativity, adventure and connection into my day. You never know when it’s going to prompt you to take a photo, where you’ll be, who you’ll be with, what you’ll be doing or what mood you’ll be in. Pairing you briefly within another Minutian gives you a fleeting glimpse into other individuals and cultures and they get a fleeting glimpse into yours. All this happens in one brief minute. Every day.

Just today, I completed my three year journey and am rewarded with access to all photos I’ve taken over the years. What a unique treasure chest of memories.

Thank you Daniel and Martin. Your concept and this app is absolutely brilliant.

  • Great idea, but still missing one key feature

Have had this app for 3 years now and it’s great, but Lord almighty, how many times has it ruined a good night’s sleep!!! This app somehow manages to send me notifications even through Do Not Disturb. What it really needs by now is the option to have a Do Not Disturb on the app itself - not only does it ruin sleep, but I’ve also missed half of the photos because they’re at 4am. Would be great to have the possibility of recovering those missed moments. Otherwise, the idea is great!

    Developer Response

Hi, Really sorry to hear that you're being woken up by the alert. Please make sure to download the most recent version of minutiae it includes "Night Mode" which allows you to set the time when you don't want to receive the notifications .
  • An important experience

I only have 200 moments left to capture, so i thought this would be a good time to encourage anyone looking at this app to pick it up.

Minutiae is a receptacle for your real lived experience that you don’t need to curate or edit, and it encourages you to remember and enjoy the mundane everyday moments in your life, not just the spectacular ones. Once a day it reminds you to look around and think about life, whatever that may mean to you.

More importantly, this app is a window into other folks’ experiences around the world. It’s a treat to see how other people live and what other places are like. It reminds me every day that people are just out there ordering takeout, working hard, going for walks, playing video games, taking out the trash, just being regular people like me. Even though I’ll likely never talk with these perfect strangers, they make me feel more human and connected than any social media platform ever has.

There’s nothing like this app, and after more than three years of living with it, I can hardly imagine life without it. It’s truly a perfect antidote to the oversaturation and hyper-realism of the social media age, and it’s the only thing on my phone that makes me feel better every time I open it. I can’t recommend it enough.

  • Been using for years now and still love it

When I decided to try this experiment out I was nervous I’d pay a lot for an app that would eventually get annoying and deleted. But I’m happy to say that I’m three years into it and am still enjoying capturing random moments of life. I’m excited to see all my pictures throughout the years at the end of this and will probably miss getting the notifications. Really interesting idea that was worth the money to participate in.
