  • Awesome app to learn hiragana!

It has become my daily go-to app to learn hiragana.
  • すごい!

Simple and easy for new learners! ( ✌︎'ω')✌︎
  • Free and no in-app purchases… plus love the notifications

Hell yeah bro it’s all there to practice my hiragana and katakana anytime i’d like with no limitations it just shows how much the creator actually cares about people learning. I will fail as much times as i could with no shame so that ads could play for them to earn.. the notifications we get are so laid back it makes me more comfy with learning and builds kind of a connection with the creator. thank you so much for this! also, love the extra words you learn with the letters!

  • A great app

I think this is an overall great app for learning Hirigana and Katakana as it's very repetitive which helps with ingraining the letters into my memory. It's also so cool to listen and repeat the phonetic sounds so I sound more natural. They also give a lot of different easy Vocab to learn and it's fun to test to see if I've learnt the words and the meaning. However I would say that if you have just started learning Japanese then it will be difficult for you in the drill part when it shows you a word and asks you to find the correct characters or romaji word for it. I think they should start bringing in words more towards the end when nearly all the Hirigana characters have been learnt.

  • Basic but useful

A very simple app that does one thing quite well. I like the native speaker audio, and once you know the kana you can enable testing on the vocab meanings. I also like the idea of ads only coming up after 5 mistakes.

One thing I think needs improving is the algorithm for presenting the kana… as you work your way through them you can end up “stuck” waiting for one or two of them to come up and complete the row (so you can move on). In some cases I had to wait for ages for this. There are also some issues with text size; on my iPhone I have text set “larger text” enabled and in some cases the romaji was too big to fit on the screen. An option to try kana in different fonts would also be good, since this can affect recognition a lot, and the very rounded font used here isn’t very typical.

  • Good app but limited

This app is great however. It’s a bit limited. The option to pick which hiragana and katakana to specifically train would be great. Also adding characters with dakuten and handakuten would be great.
  • First review I’ve ever written

I don’t ever write reviews because I always feel bad about putting flaws but for kana drill I have none to list. This app is fantastic for what it offers I’ve actually just perfected my hiragana and have just started working on katakana. I love it’s repetitiveness and how I only get ads when I make several mistakes. Now this isn’t a flaw but more of an improvement but I think the app would improve if some mnemonics were integrated because I also used an outside site to learn hiragana which does use mnemonics and I find those very helpful and as for kana drill I just use it before bed to fully drill the letters into my brain lol. Anyways this app is great especially since it’s free and I think you should give it a shot 😌

  • Highly recommend!

This app is great, this may make me sound like a bot or someone who was paid to write a review but i’m obviously not the only one who thinks this. Some of the pros and cons include
    Pros:
•App is free (Also no in-app purchases)
•You can learn the pronunciation of words/ characters
•You can learn meaning of words
    •Easy to navigate/ use
•This kinda branches of the last point but it has a good GUI
•Teaches you bit by bit instead of throwing you in the shallow end

    Cons:
•Adds (this is only every 5 mistakes and are only 5 second adds. Also, I think it’s just their way to get money and actual gain a profit from this app)
•Doesn’t teach you how to write the characters
•You can’t select specific rows to learn
•Missing a few characters (“ga, gi, gu, ge, go, za, ji, zu, ze, zo etc...)

I recommend this app if your a beginner or if you want to reinforce your kana knowledge from memory.

  • Great App to work on memorization!

I am currently taking a beginner’s level Japanese class and have been struggling to remember all the hiragana we’ve learned. I went looking for something like “flash cards” to practice memorizing hiragana during my free time and found this App. It has helped me a lot, and I felt much more confident when taking the first Japanese test because I had practiced the hiragana on this App so much. It was also so nice to have an App that wasn’t plastered with Ads everywhere, they only display after you’ve made 5 mistakes. More Apps should work like this, so it serves as a sort of incentive to do well instead of inundating you constantly with irrelevant ads. Awesome App!
