  • App not working

The app ask for an email address but don’t event recognized it. Used 2 working addresses, without any results!
  • Not good

Alright, the app is not great, the integration to smart home is terrible, setup is confusing, and the product is mediocre for the price.
  • Would give it 5 stars IF...

Please make Axis Gear iPad and Landscape mode enabled so I can change review to 5 stars.
  • Works for me

I see that there are a lot of negative reviews. I have only one device in my bedroom for blinds, which I installed about six months ago. Initially, there were some issues with the software, but now, it is stable and automation works fine for me, I had no issues with the gear since last firmware update, the blinds open and close on schedule without any issues.

  • Worst product

I can honestly say I have never purchased a worse product. The app is as good as the product itself, useless. Just when you think it’s going well, something happens and it stops working, or the chain breaks off, or your blinds only decide to open half way today. The app tells me I’m not connected to Bluetooth when I am, and then when I do, it says I am not in proximity to it. I never should have done their update as it screwed it all up to beyond repair. Over priced, under delivered. Horrible. They rushed to get it out and were not ready and still are not.

  • DO NOT BUY. Not ready for release

They should NEVER have released the GEAR in this sate. I have more problems than can list here. I bought two and have no connectivity with either. One cant remember the full up or down position. The GEARs must be manually toggled open and close. No power adapter to plug in. Requires battery changes. IOS app doesn't fit my device, ETC ETC ETC ETC.

  • Awesome! Love this thing!

I recently spent almost 100k on various window coverings for my house. I opted for motorized units where it would be difficult to operate otherwise, and manual everywhere else. After a few months of manually operating several of the window coverings, I started looking for a solution as the units I purchased initially cost over $700 each. After searching online for a 21st century solution, I found Gear! And...they weren’t $700 :-)

I received my Gear units and began the unboxing process. Oh my gosh, it was like unboxing your first apple product. I was surprised at the detail and thought that went into the products presentation. Every unit came undamaged and ready to install. When I opened the first box, I was feeling a little overwhelmed and thought this might be fairly complicated. Actually nothing could be further from the truth. Once I watched the video, it was a piece of cake. I had all the units up and going in minutes.

Weeks later, I am enjoying Gear more than ever. The Gear units work slower than the expensive units I have on several of my windows, but there are so many cool things with Gear like creating custom opening and closing schedules which takes care of everything for me without even thinking about it, that the speed doesn't matter since the units just do their thing. My expensive units are controlled via a handheld remote. So 1990. I Love love love Gear.

I’ve been in the technology space for many years, and I can tell you that if there happens to be a deficiency with the app (which I haven’t found yet) it won’t be long until an update comes out.

Keep up the good work Axis!

  • Pleasantly surprised

I was skeptical at first on how well this item would work on my bedroom curtains which are very large and heavy but to my surprise after a little tinkering and getting it setup, it opened closed my curtains very well. Hopefully this unit will last for years to come! Also, Trung Pham (CEO of Axis) was very prompt on answering all my questions. Good Job!

  • Poor software, questionable hardware

I purchased 10 of these, and foolishly installed nearly all of them before discovering it’s nowhere near ready for prime time. The firmware update process just doesn’t work. Every blind has forgotten its schedule and no longer do anything, unless you manually wake up the Axis. Grouping is a feature that’s planned, but dependent on a new Bluetooth standard (don’t hold your breath). Like many of my Kickstarter purchases, I had high hopes for this, but I’m full of regret now. The support is relatively responsive, but you can only work with their engineers from 9-5, which is not helpful if you have a job.
