Don’t even think about using HSBC

The security system is so complex, unwieldy and dysfunctional that you can’t get your money out! Everyone understands that with fraud and scams so prevalent you need a security system – but you need one that works

Easy as HSBC!

I find the App very easy to navigate and it’s always a speedy process - HSBC are very helpful if I need to message online - would recommend.

Reliable - Every time!

Wherever I am, I know my HSBC app won’t let me down. The chat service is great! I have one suggestion that would make it better but to be honest, I’m fed up of giving suggestions that are used to benefit others and I don’t get compensated in any way. I’ve been in situations that other banks probably would not have accommodated my request when things happened that were out of my control. Been with HSBC for years and I trust them.

Head and shoulders above Barclays

My accounts at Barclays were closed because I was no longer a U.K. resident. It is nearly three weeks since I went into the branch in Richmond, London, and provided them with the details of where the money in the dormant account was to be transferred to.

Barclays is typical of a large customer-based organization that has tried to reduce costs by requiring every transaction to be done online. This would not be a problem if the user interfaces were designed with the user in mind. This is certainly not the case.

HSBC, on the other hand, has done a very nice job of making things simple and therefore easy

Furthermore, trying to reach a β€œlive” voice at Barclays, when the online transaction fail, takes forever and frequently the person one talks to is not authorized to take any action to rectify the problem.

I have rarely found this to be the case at HSBC. Well done!

Appalling customer service

Last week I spent 3 hours on the phone to customer services. I spoke with 3 people, the first of whom was based in Egypt and was being as helpful as could be but it took a call of over 1hr to get anywhere with the issues I was having, a further 45 minutes of a callback from her to save me waiting on the same 1 hr call any longer, before being transferred to another department in India who knew nothing of what the original department had agreed to and I lost a further 45 minutes. After very a unhelpful and disinterested customer services representative who didn’t seem to care about or understand the frustrations and time lost in just one afternoon with what should have been simple to rectify, I made a complaint and was transferred to customer services, this time based in Leeds I believe. After more than 3 hours I got nowhere. The first call handler told me I would receive compensation for the inconvenience caused to me and a manager would call the next day. Surprise surprise, I have heard nothing. Stay clear. Once you bank with them, you are one of millions in a huge wheel and are barely a number. I also bank with Handlesbanken and their customer service and genuine care of their client relations is second to none. Very disappointing after decades of banking with HSBC.

I always struggle to login. ALWAYS. I absolutely hate this stupid app.

Internet Banking

I have always found HSBC internet banking very easy to do and very secure, thank you for providing such an up to date device and very easy to use.
Fortunately they are still keeping our branch open, which is fantastic, I changed my phone and couldn’t figure out how to get the HSBC app working on my new phone, I went into our branch , knowing that the man on the counter could sort it out for me, I took my phone in, within about 3 or 4 minutes the man on the desk had sorted my problem out. So grateful our branch is still going. HSBC are a really friendly bank, they are always willing to sort problems out for you, even though they are simple to them but difficult for us. I have been with them for years, and I hope to be with them for many more years. Thanks HSBC for being there for me.

Good bank app

HSBC bank app (for iPhone) is easy to use and very convenient when I need to transfer money or make a payment on the go. It's definitely easier to manage my money on the phone app than the computer app.
The fact that every few months I need to login again is an impediment but luckily it's easily overcome.
