Used to be almost perfect & amazing, was the best free fastest mobile banking app
BUTTTTTTTT the recent updates have ruined the banking app, I might have to start using one of my other 12 free mobile banks I have…. Unfortunately it’s sad. The long load times now are crazy, I can’t log in, it keep saying “Our wires got crossed we’re working on getting this fixed” which is so annoying and I never had this issue or any other issue with this app until a couple months ago or the latest updates actually and it’s so annoying. If this isn’t fixed soon I’m done using this bank I have been loyal for years for this?!?!? On top of you gotta make $2,500 and so much more to get benefits or access to money or borrowing just a decent amount. Other apps, competitors such as Chime have been updating their app to have way more better features including way less deposits required for benefits, access to paycheck early even if it’s not the entire thing and with low fees, low borrow fees, faster credit building, same safe credit building options. It’s really unfortunate to see this app go down hill, become slower and have technical issues, been using for like 4 years and I’ve told over 30 people about this amazing app, but if these issues aren’t fixed it’s not as good as it once was. All the deposits are almost twice other banks to get benefits or borrow and the borrow fees higher too.

I eventually had to get a “real” bank account with BMO just to be able to access my own money on a regular basis when I needed it.
My biggest problem is I submitted a dispute for like $30 for a scam business that never sent me the product. After reaching out to BBB and giving Varo all the info they needed, they still wouldn’t give me back $30. This is not a huge charge. This is $30. Literally …. Varo are you broke ?
So in calling and asking for assistance with this dispute, it’s basically impossible to get anyone on the phone. I had to call 22+ times just to reach a human being. I get it, we all hate phone calls but when I need to speak to someone, I need to have that option as a customer of the service. So finally when I FINALLY got a human being, he tells me I can’t even cancel through him! I have to physically cancel online which is exactly what I wanted to avoid because how am I going to get the rest of my money out of the account now?
It’s just another scam company. Will definitely be reporting to BBB - they can go to the same list as the ones they wouldn’t approve my dispute for. Scammers
