  • Underwhelming

There is a decent feature that allows the user to create both an inventory of one's paints and a wish-list of desired paints. The "paint by model" section is not very impressive. The developers used the same space marine backpack to show the needed colors regardless of the model one is trying to paint. The section on painting bases is nice. Some buttons are not terribly intuitive and I wish there were more words (yes, actual words) describing what is happening on screen.

  • Very solid painting companion

Really great to see games workshop putting out an app like this. While the tutorials may not be too useful for the advanced painter, the ability to keep track of what paints you have/need makes the app worth it for that alone. One thing I do seem to be having problems with is that the videos do not seem to play the audio out of the phone's speaker. I can only hear the audio if I have headphones plugged in, though perhaps that's an issue on my end. Overall great companion app, especially for beginners just getting into the hobby!

  • So at first... And then!!!

Well I'm a photographer by trade and when I initially played with the I thought photo tool was a little limited. I could not grab a photo from my library. When I was selecting a color scheme it wouldn't let me save or create at a custom one. There is also only a limited selection of preprinted model examples to draw my inspiration from.
... but then, I decided to tape a picture of an image on my computer. WOW! The app came up with several preprinted color schemes and one of them was spot on! It was painted on a jet pack but it gave me step by instructions. The image was made of 2 distinct colors and shades there of. The the app knew that and found a scheme incorporating both of them wonderfully!!!
While I think The app could use some flushing out like a section for airbrush or wet blending It more than impressed me! I am absolutely heading to my awesome new Warhammer Store (shout out to Store #94!!!) To pick up the paints as soon I I get off work!...
P.S. I'm writing this review at work since I couldn't wait to post!

  • Really great so far, just a few things to sort out

Love thevideo tutorials, just wish they had audio to go with them. Also would like to see the ability to swap colors to allow people to at least have a rough idea of ehat certain combinations could look like, though I understand the complexity involved in doing that.

Otherwise really enjoying the app so far!

  • Useful with great potential

This app is great for the basics. Every new painter will find this resource to be pure gold. They will find video tutorials that will help them build up a standard skill set. What I love the most, however, is the color-matching function; it's genius! I don't know all the citadel colors by heart so knowing which matches the color I want is a great resource. It would be nice to see this app expanded to include a library of hobbying articles to help build upon and expand the hobbyist skill-set. Basing would be an easy one that GW could easily keep promoting its products; the skull and vegetation sets they just put out, or how to use spare parts from kits to spice up the bases, and also include how to use other elements like cork, random pieces from nature, etc, to make more interesting bases. Just an idea :) I can't wait to see if they will expand this app!

  • Great help for Games Workshop painting

Very useful and intuitive app with a good selection of imbedded video tutorials and descriptions. The inventory and wish list is useful however a link from your Wishlist to purchase online would make sense. The brushes list is good but a little basic. Some photos of the brushes and ability to add those to your inventory or wish list for purchase would also be good too.

The main purpose which provides the base, layer, shade and highlight is going to be really useful. I will have my iPad by my side for painting from now on.

  • A nice basic app for helping newcomers & recalling the basics

This app is very useful as an aid to newcomer Warhammer & Warhammer 40K players who are still getting their feet in this hobby and sticking with the Citadel Paints catalog. It allows you to quickly recall many different "mainstream" paint schemes and guide you on what paints you might want to use if not the recommended colour choices. If you use the inventory/wishlist tracker, you can even see what paints you already have and still need to get, which is very useful when you start a new army or try new troops for your existing army. Recommended!

  • My palette, inventory, and hobby all in my pocket

This is a great app that does just what I want: give me immediate and easy access to my paints, my wishlist, and a palette of effects and models all without a notebook or set of utility apps jammed together. I buy more of the right paint using this app, and waste less on the wrong paint. Of course that means I have more cash for miniatures, which is what we all want, right?

Seriously, this is simple and effective... and it's free! What are you waiting for? Stop wasting time and money, get this app, and you'll have the right paint for the right minis the next time you're at the store or the table.

  • Golden Demon in your pocket!

I've waited for this for a long time. So easy to use, so user friendly and it's free! I'm so impressed with the App allowing you to use your camera to help you match the color. Just point and touch and boom, color is matched. The videos are clear and the color palette is up to date with today's models! No longer will I have to scour the Internet to find how to do use a particular color or technique! It's all in my hands wherever I go! Thank you Games Workshop!

  • Fantastic App

For those starting painting, this app is fantastic. With step by step guides and videos of certain techniques it can walk a person through to a good quality finished model. It also benefits experienced hobbyists that are starting new projects; The ability to look up paints used for new colour schemes/models allowing people to seamlessly glide into painting unknown models. My only criticism would be that not all armies are covered (for instance high elves, which I am about to start as a new army). Although, this is the app's first day and I am sure that the database will grow with time. The app itself is simple to use, quick and attractive in its layout.

Thank you for this additional tool citadel! Great job!
