Awesome experience!

I used the SmartSpending app to get an extra discount on top of a huge sale at Wayfair. Everything worked perfectly. It was easy and convenient to use the discount and make my purchase right from my phone.

Consistently buggy

A lot of times when you are at a store trying to use it, the keyboard doesn't appear, meaning you can't search for the retailer.

Also, have had the payment details wiped, which has resulted in spending an extra few minutes re-entering the details. Which can be difficult when the keyboard doesn't appear.

User experience for this app is quite awful.

Unreliable - Never works when you need it!

There’s always a problem that prevents you from using it.

Not being able to see the balance as most of users have pointed out makes it very unpractical. I feel this is a problem from the actual merchants, that only wants you to buy the coupon but never spend it, so making it clunky makes it more likely that you will not spend the whole balance. You end up with lots of coupons not fully used and the savings is just a illusion.

It’s annoying when you want to buy credit to pay when you are the counter and it doesn’t work; and extremely annoying when you have the credit but can’t access it.

So what you have to do is to buy in advance, which is vey good for the merchants, and then when you gonna spend the credit it doesn’t work.

Bottom line is - good for the merchants that get paid in advance, good for the employer that lures you with perceived benefits and for the company that sells this to the employer; the user is the one that have to lend money to the merchants and can’t use it in the end.

Good though one outstanding bug

I’d sooner contact the developer here rather than leaving a review, however contact details are not immediately obvious!

Am on an iPhone 7 with IOS 12.1.4, with standard and SwiftKey keyboards loaded. Quite often on loading the app, I go to search and the keyboard does not display. Even after trying to disengage SwiftKey, still the same end result. This has been happening since last year. I can’t say if SwiftKey is a contributing factor. Are you aware RG?

Otherwise good app and readily allows me to purchase instant vouchers, when I can get the keyboard to work, whilst at the till without incurring impatient stares of customers queuing behind me!

First time use

Worked fine in store on my data, scanned perfectly, no lag. Checkout worked fine too. I’m amazed!!
But.. it is heavy on battery use, it could do with only a portion of the screen used to see the barcode when scanning. Otherwise having the whole screen on the whole time when you’re shopping kills your battery. I’m so glad this app is working better after all. Perfect for when you forget your nectar card!!

It cannot process the payment

Disappointing. This is the second time it will take the money from my bank account but will not issue the voucher. The message received was that there was a problem processing my payment e.g bank details were wrong. I have contacted your Customer Support and the response was very prompt hence 2 stars but I was not satisfied with the answer to my query. Apparently to try and do it via website instead. My bank requires additional authorisation and the app just jumps that screen and comes back with an error. Please fix this as I used to use the app but now is useless, I can only browse and cannot purchase anything.

great savings, convenient to use

This app is great for quickly getting discounts or cash back on purchases. I used it over christmas and for some winter birthdays and have saved more than 50 bucks so far!

Great discounts, shame about the lockout system

Great app. Used it in a few workplaces for discounts. HOWEVER, I don’t know when this started happening or if it’s implemented on a per-company basis but I am sign out every few weeks. As there’s no password system - to be forward thinking! - I get a pin sent to my work email. Which I don’t necessarily have access to when I’m looking for a deal. Thus I have to wait until I do have access again before I can login by which point the discount is most likely useless. Hope it’s a bug because it certainly didn’t happen in other workplaces with an older version of the app. But a password system to go with you PIN/Face ID wouldn’t go amiss..
