  • A fantastic game, but with a concern

SkullGirls is very clearly a passion project and I love it. The animation, the music, the gameplay, and structure of the game is wonderful, and I’ve definitely put a lot of time into this game in the past few months I’ve been playing! And unlike other mobile games, SGM only requires that you spend some time playing rather than spend actual currency to make progress in the game, which is actually really nice and makes it far from being pay-to-win! The developers clearly put so much time, care, and attention into this game and have created something so beautiful and fun.
However, if you’re planning on getting into SGM or you’re a parent of a kid who plays/wants to play, I highly recommend turning the chat function off. While the game could be arguably rated 12+, the chat is absolutely not. There are countless people that use the chat function not to ask for advice or discuss gameplay, but to spew a LOT of inappropriate things. Whether it’s about underaged children or graphic adult drawings of characters from the game— or even just straight-up hate speech— the developers just don’t seem to care what goes on in their game chat. I can usually ignore this and move on as an adult, but what bothers me is that this game is rated 12+, so I really do think this is a massively inappropriate problem to have.
But again, bravo to the developers for creating such a masterpiece; I just hope they can make the chat more of a safe and comfortable experience.

  • Good game, with big issues

Ridiculously unbalanced game, some abilities in this game are way overpowered final stand plus ridiculous regen plus stun, immobilize plus block break plus auto block, all this does is give the ai a major edge you get obliterated or you time out. Also a major lack of content holds this game back, play for a month and you will be completely out of stuff to do. Prices are insanely high, the value is just not there. Timers on fights can completely ruin your experience, if you want to fight stronger opponents you need to play defensively, but then you run out of time and lose, especially in rift battles with catalysts that bring opponents back to life over and over, and losing your best champs to time-out pretty much ends your chances of winning a rift battle. In summary balance op abilities, add more content like monthly events, more value in in-app purchases with lower costs, believe it or not you will make more money, and raise the time limit on fights or better yet completely remove it, it’s unnecessary.

  • Pretty good game

The game overall is pretty fun. When you first start off though it can be difficult if you don’t pay the starter pack fee which I guess makes sense. You don’t have to pay and you can still get through most of the challenges just takes more effort sometimes. The versus mode is pretty cool the only problem is sometimes the matchmaking. You can find games pretty easy it’s just the people you get matched with. When I first started versus I got someone around my level I won that match but then right after I would get placed against people who were level 30 and above. It can get annoying when you first start out as it’s annoying to lose to someone’s who knows what characters are best and play a lot more (obviously that just means you have to play more as well). And I understand that the level difference have to be this way due to player base and what you set the connection level too but I legit rather just sit in a queue that’s just a little bit longer then get in to match with a guy who literally hasn’t got up off his couch in 16 years.

Hi, Currently we ignore player level and rank in Versus mode. We do this to maximize the chances of finding a smooth fight with a good strong connection. However, we do have plans to make Versus Mode much more feature complete in the future - give us a little time and I'm sure you'll be impressed :) Do you have any other feedback? ~HVS~
  • This game is a blessing

I’ve practically been playing this game for two years and of course the switch version for one year and both are amazing. But this is a review on the mobile game. This is definitely my most favorite Mobile Fighting Game and the original PC/Console version of the game is definitely my favorite fighting game of all time as well. The Mobile version of this game is so fun to replay and I especially love the Prize Fights because of how fun it is to play and practically get free fighters for just playing the game!

I wanna talk about the Origin Stories, i really want a Master Difficultly on every Origin Story or at least make a Master Difficulty for Big Band’s Origin Story cause it’s been a year or so and we only have that difficulty for Peacock’s I think we should have Big Band’s Master Difficultly by now as it just makes sense and I am pretty desperate to Evolve my Epic Sax Big Band to Diamond you feel me? I mean I know the devs know how I feel haha. But other than that this is a great game I totally recommend this to anyone because this is great

  • AMAZING GAME!!! but ive noticed a couple things

hi! i would just like to say that your game is AMAZING and i ADORE IT!!! i first played this game in the fifth grade and grew obsessed with it! then i guess i seemed to forget about the game. now im in my freshman year of high school and i recently redownloaded it again. and im back to being obsessed about it!!! but as much as i love the games ive noticed a couple bugs that kind of make me angry, for example there are times that when i use my special moves my character freezes after activating them and just wastes the time, ive even lost a couple games due to it. the move that im refering to the most is Eliza’s ‘Sekhmet’s turn’. i get into the eliza’s other form and my character just wont move but the enemy is allowed to. ive noticed that with a couple other moves but none of them due it as much as elizas move. but besides that- this game is absolutely amazing!! keep up the goodwork!!!

  • Very good game

I honestly love this game it’s so creative in its fighting, story, characters, and more. But there are definitely a few gripes I have as well. Firstly the real money packages for relics and more have unreal prices. Not everyone can afford to spend 50 dollars just for a chance at a new character. And I understand that there are cheaper prices but for the cost to item ratio it has nearly no value at all at least to me. Secondly, it’d be nice to have practice for the competing versus so you could actually practice with the characters and moves you use and not the only the ones you have. Lastly, getting the gems or crystal things are wayyy too small and amount. The daily quests give only a handful of them. The story was so good in the way they gave them out but once you get to the final difficulty, it becomes way to specific to even try and get the rewards they offer. Overall this is a great game which could rival even non mobile games, but removing these limitations would be amazing and only do good for the Skullgirls community.

  • Wow just wow

I’ve played quite a bit of mobile fighting games and none of them have reached what Skullgirls has. This game has rich combat a great story and glorious characters. Unlike some mobile fighting games you don’t need to use real world money to get characters you need or earn more buffs to your fighters instead you earn more characters and buffs by playing the game and when you take a break and come back you’re greeted with a gift just for checking up on the game. This game has the most replayibility with the story mode every single level has fights and when you finish the level you’re greeted with a new difficulty to reheat that level you have Basic, advanced, expert, and master. Skullgirls is by far the best fighting game on mobile devices and if you haven’t played it I recommend you do.

  • This game is legit as good as some pc games

I downloaded this game a couple weeks ago and i’ve been grinding a lot, almost every day, and I can’t seem to get enough of the game. I haven’t spent a cent but I can still get as far as everyone else by just playing. this game is hilarious, from intro/outro lines, but it even has JOJO REFERENCES. I could leave the review here from that last point alone but I have more praise for this game. I love the gameplay mechanics, they’re easy to learn and when you can eventually hit like 30 hit combos you feel untouchable. Another good aspect of this game are the constant updates and daily/weekly challenges. they keep the game interesting without necessarily getting repetitive. I’ve never gotten bored playing because as soon as i’m getting tired of fighting AI in story mode and prize fights, I can challenge myself on versus where you can win with numerous strategies and there are infinite possibilities of good teams to destroy people with. this game runs incredibly smooth, and i’m playing on a 4 year old iphone 8 with pretty much no storage left, but this game is the smoothest game i’ve ever played on IOS. hard to believe this is a phone game. basically this game is god tier. admins if there’s one thing i’d like to see different is that i’m coming to the end of story mode even tho i’m lvl 48, and the story is mad interesting too, so i’d love to see continuation if that’s possible.

  • This game is truly the BEST fighting game on mobile

I was very surprised of how well made and great this game is. The controls are simple but yet effective. The gameplay is good for beginners but you will need practice to be good. (Personally love that game design). The design of the graphically is AMAZING to say the least. It’s runs very smoothly (around 60-80 FPS witch is unheard of in mobile) the graphics and game art style is AMAZING. The character roster is really really great with characters for every different play style. And I love how that added a competitive mode with all of the characters unlocked and all moves unlocked. But Man I wish mobile would let us the skin of the character you own in competitive, like it would still be competitive but it would let me use my other big band costumes but only the skin not the stats, like an ult in smash bros or other fighting games or like in 2nd encore we’re they let you use a skin, and I want it because I want to show people cool looking characters and stuff but I don’t like playing free for all because not only people with characters that have the power level advantage would win 90% of the time, but the good thing is you can show off the cool characters. So if the game devs are reading this please add a feature we’re we can use the character costumes in competitive. This game is really really worth a download and playing and I’m only asking for one thing and that is to let us use our character costumes in competitive.

Hey there, Thanks for the great review! Expanding the options and features of the online Versus mode is definitely something we want to do eventually. I can't give any specifics yet, but it's definitely on our radar! Best Regards, ~HVS~
  • Amazing game but there’s more to improve on

Skullgirls is an amazing game but there’s a few problems. If there are going to be levels where you have to select a certain character you need it to be easyer to get relics my solution is letting there be relics of witch you buy with canopy coins and the higher rarity chance the more you have to pay. For example a 50% bronze, 30% silver, 15% gold , and 5% diamond relic would be 15,000 cc’s (canopy coins). A 40% bronze, 30% silver, 20% gold, and 10% diamond would be 30,000 cc’s. A 30% bronze, 40% silver, 25% gold, and 5% diamond would be 45,000 cc’s. A 30% bronze, 40% silver, 20% gold, and 10% diamond would be 60,000 cc’s. If this was added it would make players like me who like to grind out the story way more fun because I’m stuck on a level that requires me to have valentime of witch I don’t have. Thank you creators of skullgirls for helping me through quarentine.👍
