Paying at the pump is great!

Paying at the pump is really convenient for me. This app lets me do it and has worked every time so I’m a happy camper. If Ampol didn’t offer this feature I’d probably just go to a different servo that’s closer, but thanks to the convenience of paying at the pump, it’s Ampol all the way for me!

EV charging is unreliable

The app is fairly standard as far as EV charging goes - it’s fairly straightforward to start charging and to pay. However, it is let down by the fact that it repeatedly says that a charging station is available when it is actually being used, and even lets you start paying for a charge! It’s pretty annoying if you drive to the charger because it is supposed to be available.

Avoid it’s just a waste of time / effort for nothing

Downloaded app to use as a way to pay for fuel within a centralised area. Spent time got all set up even linked my WW account. On day one it looked like it was working but day 2 it just stopped and failed hard.

Events: Go to an Ampol which previously I could see accepted in app payments…. Got there and nothing worked, even had the service attendant try help me by scanning the QR to receive the 6c off which is why I downloaded and went through this process.

That didn’t work so now I’ve just wasted like an hour plus of my life, given away data(for no value exchange), chose to use Ampol above cheaper competitors and what did I get?
NOTHING….. needless to say I think you should really consider whether you download this app and or choose Ampol as your fuel provider.. for me at least it didn’t work the support is non existent and the fall back or redundancies meant to avoid this from happening failed to protect..

Useless if you can’t pay from app

Like many of the most recent reviews all attempts at payment have been declined. Staff tried to help and offered different solutions but nothing worked (including deleting then reinstalling). This was the case on different days and at different locations.
I tried the app as part of an Amex offer. Previous offers worked if you paid in store but this time round it would only work with the app. If Ampol’s plan was to get more people using the app it has backfired in a big way - I’ll be deleting it and will go back to using other service station brands as much easier to use discounts and other promotions to reduce costs.
Agree with some of the other posts - would be helpful to see the most up to date prices for each location.

Unsuccessful payment x 4 times

As per other bad reviews, app does not allow payment. After going through the process and receiving your discount using the app, the app says unsuccessful payment. Credit card company said they allowed the transaction but Ampol rejected it. I tried 4 times and all 4 were rejected. Had to pay in store and was unable to use the 6c/l offer. Staff refused to apply the discount manually. Note: After a couple of minutes the pump number stopped showing on the app meaning I could not try setting up a different payment method.

Terrible for EV charging

The Ampol app's EV charging functionality is a complete failure. Apple Pay doesn't work, rendering payment options useless. The app's interface is far from intuitive, making navigation a frustrating ordeal. The excessive sign-up process is unnecessarily long and cumbersome, demanding more information than any user should have to provide just to charge their vehicle. Unlike the simplicity of paying and fueling at a petrol station, this app complicates the process beyond reason. Whoever designed this should be embarrassed by how poorly it serves its purpose.

New version is difficult to use

This used to be a really simple app to use for fuel payment. But the latest version I find hard to follow, the text is too small and blue text colour hard to read. I just filled up and thought I had paid after struggling to find the page where you insert the pump number, started to drive off and had another look while waiting for traffic and found I had not paid. Please make it easier to use.

Unable to update expired credit card

Customer support failed miserably. Reported issue on 29th November with expired credit card and unable to update or add additional card. App would just hang so could not use to buy petrol or use any App deals. For the first week they kept telling me to delete and download app again and again. Told them on 6th December that this did not solve issue. Heard nothing from customer support until 29th December telling me that an update on 12 December should have fixed the problem. Took customer support 17 days to get me that message. Begs the question does Ampol really care?

Substandard constant issues

Always wants to update.
Logs you out for no reason and you have to log in when you just want to get your petrol and go. Then says there is an issue logging you in. Why does it not have face recognition like other payment apps. You guys need to understand the jobstobedone concept . I want to use the app to fill up and be on my way quickly so why can’t you achieve that. App works only 50% of the time. Seems to be an update every second time I fill up then you have to update the app when you have just filled up quicker to go in a pay with cashier. Do better

Great app!

I used this for the first time last night. It was so easy and so much faster than having to go into the store to pay. I’m sure a couple of people looked at me just get into the car and drive off after filling up and probably thought I was doing a runner!
