Real Appeal Drop Out

I dropped out of the program after the 6 months of weekly meetings. The app is glitchy and the fitness app that participants have access to is horrible - limited exercises and dated videos.

My bigger problem is with the program itself. It might be ok for those who don’t know the basics of nutrition & physical health (thus the 2 stars). It focuses only on portion size, calories in vs out, making good nutrition and activity choices. It does not address, and in fact denies, middle age weight gain, such as gains caused by metabolic and hormonal changes, so I had minimal benefit (2 pounds in 6 months). The worst part for me, besides denying that age/metabolism/hormones play a factor in weight gain, was the weekly announcement of the total pounds lost by the group. To be reminded week after week of the total pounds lost by the group, knowing that only 2 of those were mine, was not good for my mental health. I should have dropped out much earlier than I did.

Best support system

I felt like this app had helped me with support with the class. I love the involvement of others to gain ideas but also, with coach I have access to a one on one. We are always on schedule and we get meetings done. I like that I didn’t have to purchase so many apps to calculate my calories or activities etc and if needed I could educate myself with what’s out there on our app the coach has us read with our weekly sessions. Now** I do wish we could take pictures of monthly progress. Because I would love to see from where my start was and the monthly difference side by side. Instead- I’m having to take it on my own but cant do the layout side by side like it shows on the app and it was a bummer for me. Maybe updates to this would help benefit and get motivation more

Pretty good app

I think this app has a ton of potential. It really needs work on searching/ finding food products for calorie tracking. I use my “Loose it” app for calorie tracking. I have not had any issues as far as reading the articles. Video chatting with my coach. Being able to set my weekly goal. Going back & viewing previous articles. If I need helping finding/ doing anything the “Help” or “FAQ” section usually solves my problem. I’m currently not paying for this service. I was given this service by my health insurance plan from my employer. What think with all these “miracle drugs” coming out for weight loss, like Mounjaro and Ozempic. Insurances would rather pay for “lifestyle changes” instead of the quick route. Which is really awesome, the information that is being given through this app is definitely teaching “Lifestyle changes”. I really enjoy it.

It was amazing, until it wasn’t

When I first started, Rally Coach, I loved it! I am a middle-aged mom. 😉 Been trying to lose weight for a while now when I discovered Rally Coach through my insurance. It was a huge help and great support. I loved the weekly coaching, the daily messages of encouragement. It was all great. Until about a month ago when the app completely stopped working. When I open the app it’s nothing but gray boxes. When I try to log in for my coaching sessions, I have to go back to the website in order to get into my session because the app won’t work. I’ve deleted it, reinstalled it, I’ve updated it, I’ve emailed customer service, (never heard back) the app itself froze three times while trying to send a second email to customer service. So I quit trying. I used the app and the program for 13 weeks and loved it. Now I can’t use it at all and I guess I’m done with the program because I can’t access anything anymore.

Needs technical and usability upgrades

I Started the program when my company health insurance changed. I had used Noon prior to starting Rally. After 4 weeks, there have been many technical issues. Weekly sessions could not be started, my session was dropped, and the integration between Rally and Rally Coach needs improvement. The log on process and tracking is not integrated. It does not seem to be optimized for phone usage: text way to small, action buttons not visible, cards too large, and the organization seems confusing. The first session with the coach was explaining the technical work arounds. Although this is “free” for me, I noticed that my health insurance is being billed $49 weekly. I would not pay that for this program. I hope you improve the usability and work out the technical issues.

Review

Im enjoying my Real Appeal sessions. Our coach Rachel is amazing! We get great tips and action items each week. Ultimately, we determine how successful we are in the program. I’m learning a lot and still have much work to do. However, I’m grateful for the support of Rachel and my group. I’m looking forward after the 1 year is completed what I will accomplish. So grateful this was introduced thru my employer! Thank you

App doesn’t work

I got an iPhone 7. I’m not sure if this is why this app has been useless for me. It seems like it works for others, based on all the 5 stars reviews, but for me it has been frustratingly useless. It doesn’t sync with Fitbit. My steps are always zero on this app because is not transferring the steps from Fitbit. I finally got it to sync with MyFitness Pal. I have to use external apps because the Rally Coach app always crashes after about 30 seconds of opening it. I have never even been able to see the dashboard, because it doesn’t load up the graphics. I’m using it as part of an employer/insurance program to lose weight, but I think our company is wasting money on this thing. The coach is great, but the platform is not helping. I’ll keep logging my foods and steps using other apps even if I don’t get the credit on the Rally coach app.

Ok, but…

The coaches a great, the app is not.

It would be really useful if the app could integrate with Health and share data. I use Apple fitness to track my movement and Health for weight and Lose It! to track food when I bother, Rally makes you input those separately within the app, and for the longest time the app would freeze and crash when I tried to put in food.

I already cook entirely from scratch, so putting recipes into this kind of tracker is ridiculously tedious as it is, without the addition of freezing after you’re halfway through typing an ingredient name.

Works as a simple app, has potential

I’ve been using this app for about a month now, and although some items are good there’s still plenty of room for improvement. When you try to create a recipe it automatically makes the serving default to one so if you add it to your tracking for the day it assumes you’ve already over consumed on calories. Maybe I’m doing it wrong, if that’s a case, then clearly it is not intuitive. It should be a step process where you enter as a true recipe; add ingredients with measurements, then set up serving size. It would be nice if there was an option to manually enter the calories, fat, etc. for something not found in the database. Another issue is that it says it is synced with my Fitbit however, I have yet to see any steps recorded and you cannot manually enter them.

My review

I get a lot of important info during class. Because of bariatric surgery and a disability, some of the information doesn’t apply to me. I try to use all that I can.
I get frustrated because I’ve had to reschedule 3 weeks. I don’t believe my attendance was recorded, because even though I attended the make-up sessions, I get email messages saying I missed a class. That’s happened at least 3 times. I did miss one class when I was in the hospital, but that is the only one I missed. Does this jeopardize my membership?
This program is delightful and very important…too good to miss! Thank you for providing it!
