  • Peace of mind

I received my Ting from my insurance company several months ago. I have some very close friends who lost their homes to fire and one even lost a loved one. For me, Ting is a no-brainer. Protection from electrical fires is a must in this day and age and Ting provides this. It doesnโ€™t replace the need for smoke detectors but is a very important tool in your fire protection system.

  • Good so far

I received a Ting through my utility, PG&E, who are shipping the sensor to customers for free. It was very easy to set up and it connected readily to my dual-band Wi-Fi. 4 stars only because the app does not provide a lot of useful or actionable information. Itโ€™s a set and forget kind of device. And the app is mainly for setup and education once installed. Hope I donโ€™t get notifications.

  • Awesome

I was skeptical at first since I have an older home but Ting learned my power habits and i feel secure knowing that it is always monitoring. I love the tips and also how it explains what and how everything works & especially what is the greatest fire hazards. Itโ€™s something I highly recommend for all homeowners. I sleep better at night knowing it will alert me if something was to go wrong. Thank you Ting!!! Your Awesome!!!

  • Device connection issues if you have RING and Edgemax router

Got the device and tried to connect to my router. Despite several tries and even assigning a static IP, it will not connect. Had to send all the logs to the company and I am told that currently, there is incompatibility with Ting and RING Cameras + Edgemax routers. I added a secondary router with its own DHCP and now no issues.

The animation on the home page is useless and waste of screen real estate. Even when the device was not connected, it showed the green lines with No Hazards Detected, seriously?

The app does not have a capability to to switch WIFI network. You have to reset the device and add it again. The device does not have an ad-hoc mode to connect to your network despite having a Bluetooth connection.

I think that this is a good start. The product and the app can be improved.
