  • Love batch scan, tagging, privacy protection - also a few suggestions

I love this app - particularly the display, ability to sort by tag, batch ISBN scanning, and how it doesn’t collect unnecessary personal data. After looking into alternatives, I’m glad I chose it and I definitely recommend it.
I have a few suggestions for future updates. First, I have specialized genres that aren’t included in the auto-assigned categories, so i set my genres by tagging - it is slow and I would like to be able to select a bunch of books and then assign them the same tag. I also wish that when a book doesn’t have an ISBN barcode, I wish I could put in the ISBN manually and the app would search for the book, rather than manually inputting all the data and taking a photo of the cover (which is honestly more effort than I do, but would be nice to have the cover). Finally, it would be great to have a web-based version, because I could manually input books without ISBN barcodes faster on my computer than my phone.

  • Perfect for me

This is exactly what I’ve been looking for. I can catalog all my owned books and organize them by shelves and tags. And if i own a book thats not on the app, i can manually add it myself. But my favorite part is how much you can customize the books. If i have a slightly different version of a book thats on the app, i can simply edit it instead of creating it from scratch.

I keep thinking “this app is too good to be true. There’s going to be a book limit or time limit or something to ruin the dream.” But till now none of the sorts have popped up. The things you can do on the free version are amazing and i cant thank the creators enough for it.

I can use this app really well alongside of goodreads. The TBR on my Goodreads is full of books that I might someday buy or read. And I can put the books that I will actually plan on buying soon in this app. This way I have a much better overview of my spending and can plan it out better.

I also have a much clearer overview of the TBR list I actually already own.

All in all, this app is a lifesaver for me. My shelves were becoming an absolute mess. You can do nearly everything on free version.

  • Freedom in the Tracks

I’m not a heavy user of apps on the phone, but I have grown, especially fond of bookshelf. Being a free app, it had the potential to be something not too sturdy, but that has not been the case as I have used over the past seven months because I have a way to log where I am in several books without using random bookmarks, although I still have them, my reading habit has been stronger and consistent because of using this app. I’ve already recommended it to many friends and even a few strangers who also like to read so if you don’t already have it, download it and enjoy your reading journey, the title of this review is in reference to trains the train is powerful, but I can’t go anywhere without its respective tracks. Therefore, this app becomes the “tracks” needed for your powerful reading train!

  • Brilliant book tool

Personally I love this app and it’s perfect for keeping yourself organised with making sure you don’t buy the same book twice.
The batch scan feature made scanning and adding my books so much quicker and easier and works about 95% of the time.
Being able to make different groupings for my books is really helpful as well as the feature where you can fill in how much you’ve read with the page numbers so you can see your progress through the book.
Overall brilliant app and is just very helpful and user friendly.

  • Excellent app

I had a problem when I first downloaded it, and out of frustration I wrote a bad review here. The problem is gone and now the app works well. It is the best way of keeping track of my book collection. It is user friendly and attractive to look at (but see last paragraph).
I would like to suggest a couple of thngs: when a date is needed, I don’t want to have the exact precise day (e.g. when i started or finished reading) it is enough to say May 2023, Not 10 May 2023. The other suggestion: i need to get rid of fields I don’t need nor use. They just clog up the app and it looks messy. E.g. how much i paid for the book. Useful for some peopl, but messy for me

  • Yes!

This app has been invaluable for my child’s library collection. With almost 700 books for a 7 year old I had to find a way to organize the collection. Upon our initial use we found many duplicates that we were able to gift to friends and our classroom. This app has prevented me from buying several other duplicates since and I couldn’t continue the library collection without it! Thank you for also making this FREE, though after using it I would happily pay for the continued use. I look forward to using the other options next school year where we keep track within the app of the books they have read for our school log! Thank you so very much for this amazing resource!

  • Great for keeping track of your bookshelves

Easy to use and to add books to you shelves. Due to the custom tags you can create and add to the books, the uses you can make from the app are versatile. The user interface is great and this app has helped with an issue I have had for years where I accidentally buy duplicates.

  • Handy Reading App

Bookshelf is a simple way to make a list of books. You are supposed to list books on your To Be Read list and keep track of your progress, but I use the app to keep lists of all the books I read by year. The app lets you choose the exact cover of the book you read which is pretty and brings to mind the book as you remember it. The only thing I dislike is that they sometimes change the cover you have chosen, apparently when that cover of the book is out of print. I find the app very useful because it is on my phone and so is always nearby. I can instantly list a book as I finish it and that way I am less likely to miss or forget a title.
