Reviews of NZeTA

  • Never Heard of it Until Check-In

I did not have any of the issues described by many of the other reviews, so the app itself was easy and functional for me. However, I had no idea that this was a requirement to travel to NZ until I was unable to check in to my flight. The website says to allow 72 hours for processing for NZeTA, but my flight leaves in about 15 hours. Hopefully it’s a quicker process than 72 hours. It’s insane that you can spend thousands of dollars to get to a country and then be surprised with another fee and processing times immediately before your flight leaves. I’m all for charging tourists extra to protect the environment, but this seems like a pretty bad way to implement it.
  • App is fine and does the job

I was quite surprised by the low rating as my own experience was fine. The app scanned my passport pretty quickly and parsed the info correctly. Photo feature was mostly fine too, though I wish it gives users the option to upload a photo from our own album. (This is the main reason I gave 4-star and not 5.) It won’t scan my credit card but I’ve had issue with that card on other apps previously. Successfully paid, submitted and approved in 2 minutes.
  • Fast and Easy

Sorry if you have kids I guess 🤷🏼‍♀️ that seemed to be the main complaint of the negative reviews. I found the process to be extremely quick and easy. I do wish you could upload an acceptable picture, but I still had everything set up so it wasn’t a hardship to take another picture inside the app. I received an “approved” email within two minutes of completing the application and paying the fee (about $32 USD).
