Shuts down over and over
I too am having a problem with it shutting down after 30 seconds or less really annoying to have to try 4 or 5 times before can watch if at all and really annoying having to watch the same commercial over and over again until can watch the full video. This does not bode well for a paid for service. Please fix this

It’s hard to give a proper rating for this app
The content is great, the app is terrible, subscribing through Apple would not work for me. Tried 3 times and apple had to refund me 3 times. Eventually had to subscribe through amazon to get it to work. Streaming apps are generally used in landscape mode so functionality needs to be in landscape too. It’s a pretty brutal platform to be charging a subscription for at this point, especially if you can’t exactly remember where you left off in a season. It doesn’t resume where you left off, every time you go into the app it’s like it’s the first time it’s been run.
The craftsmanship in the show is not reflected in this app, do better, please. As I said the content is still great and I’m hopeful TOH sees the errors in this app.

Love this old house, this app is not great
Hey This Old House is amazing and I wish that the app would be just as great. When you maximize a video on the iPad and watch an episode everything is fine- until you are done. When an episode finishes, there is no way to minimize the video and return to the app! I had to force close the app three times. Have to delete the app.

Great service, good app, a few quirks
Love the service, love having easy access to the back catalogue in high quality. Seeing a few issues when using the app on an iPad in landscape mode: 1) afaict there is no close button on the video player when in landscape, the only way to get from the player back to the episode collection is to rotate to portrait and back out of the navigation stack; 2) if you let the player auto advance to the next episode in landscape, the mask behind the player is lost, so you see a stripe of video over the episode detail view. In combination, the result is that in order to cleanly move from one episode to the next you need to rotate the device from landscape to portrait, pop the navigation stack, pick the next episode, and then rotate back to landscape. It’s a lot to do! Having said all that, it’s easy to live with because the content is great.

Content good. The app is a bag of hurt.
You can’t close one video and select another. You have to kill the app and start over. And it has absolutely no idea what you’ve watched, and you can’t read the descriptions because they’re truncated on the selection screen.
The people who wrote this software either didn’t try to use it, or they don’t care. It’s pretty bad.

Software Craftspeople They Are Not
I’m a huge fan of TOH and the content is great to have access to, but unfortunately the app needs more work. In particular, it doesn’t keep track of what you’ve watched. There is no way to tell which episodes you’ve watched or where you were in an episode.
Being unable to navigate away from an episode and choose a different episode when in landscape orientation is a pain as well. I’m hopeful that the developers for TOH can add these sorts of features soon, and get the UX up to at least a professional range, and then take it further to show the type of craftsmanship with their software that they do in their homebuilding.

Very happy...one problem
Please make a way to track what has been watched and to pick back up from where I left off. Everything else is great!
Frequent app crashes
I LOVE This Old House. Unfortunately the app crashes frequently when trying to play a video. Can’t say I’ve had an app do this before. If I didn’t love TOH so much I’d give the app a 1 or 2 star review. Fortunately, the content is great when I’m able to actually watch it. Hoping for some future updates that are more stable.

Excellent app, few minor glitches
This app works perfectly to binge-watch the shows on my latest-gen AppleTV. So, so much better than before the app existed.
Content still does have to be Airplayed to my older AppleTV, using the TOH app on an iPad Mini 4. That setup is somewhat glitchy, but quitting/restarting the app on the iPad usually fixes it.
The Insider subscription is money well spent, in my case. I’m semiretired and enjoy learning new things. I also like being able to have a halfway intelligent conversation with a contractor when I hire work out. “Two thumbs up—way up!”

Needs a blackout function
I tried this app for the first time, and the only blemish is that I can’t back out from one program and search for different ones. If there’s a function to that would be perfect.
