  • Not my kind of game

I downloaded this game thinking it would be a decent stress reliever but it turned out to be the complete opposite. After about two months of slowly progressing through this game, I’ve realized several levels are designed to be near impossible unless you get all the best upgrades which is completely out of your control because it’s a mostly rng-based game. If the developer cared as much about making an enjoyable game as opposed to just making money, I as well as many others would be more likely to want to spend more money on this game. However, because the little amount of money I’ve spent on this game was only on gems to revive myself that I only purchased out of frustration, I decided to delete the game because it’s nowhere near worth the thousands of dollars I’ve spent on other games that require more skill and less luck to do good in. As a way to make this game better, I think after leveling up throughout a world you should be able to pick whatever upgrade you want instead of one of three random ones because there is no reason for the randomness other than to make people more likely to spend money. Making games heavily based on luck just makes them seem like obvious money grabbers because luck has nothing to do with skill.

  • Was a five star game

This game started off great and then became phenomenal and then plummeted to “meh”.

The change that makes for the most frustration was their decision to increase the difficulty of “Endless Tower”. Their reasoning was so that the most skilled players would win rather than those who simply play the most. I don’t really see the logic here. I was consistently coming in first every week and now that they’ve increased the difficulty... I’m still coming in first. People might ask “Well, why are you complaining if you’re still winning?” It’s because it’s pretty easy to see the real reasoning behind this move: devs are just getting greedy. They’re causing the player to die more often after cleverly discounting the price of gems, but forcing you to buy more at a time. Ultimately it’s all to make more money off you 🤷‍♂️

    RIP Mr Autofire

  • This is why people hate mobile games

There could be a good game here. But, instead, everything is sacrificed to make this as efficient an ad delivery system as possible. You get ads after levels, then you are thrown into another level with no enemies and only a single television, with the request to watch MORE ads. The ads frequently give you nothing. Oh well, it got you to watch another ad. You can pay to remove ads, oh but only some of them. You still can watch more ads, don’t worry.

The controls are rubbish and frequently stop working in boss rooms, the energy system is stingy and archaic, the auto-aiming seems purposely designed to get you killed and stops you from attacking the most dangerous enemies, even if they are closest to you. The reasons for all of that, and more, is that it doesn’t matter, because it doesn’t affect your ad-watching ability.

  • I’m still playing, but...

It’s a free app, but it’s pay to play. You can play as much as you want without ever spending a dime, but be prepared to play the exact same level for days or weeks on end to get the power ups you need to advance. That, I can live with, but...

The biggest reason I’m not giving more stars is easily fixable by devs. There are several bonuses that you can achieve by watching an ad, but here lately, you can click to watch an ad 2, 3 or 4 times before the bonus is rewarded. It wasn’t like that when I first started playing, so my guess is there’s a glitch somewhere that doesn’t recognize that you’ve already watched the ad. I don’t mind the ads that play that you can skip that don’t give a reward, it’s part of the “free” gaming experience, but when you promise a reward for 30 seconds of ads and it turns into 4 times that, it kind of feels like a ripoff.

    Developer Response

Thanks a lot for your feedback. We will fix the ad issue for the next update. Sorry about the inconvenience.
  • Five stars

This is a tough but great game. Sure, you're going to die a lot. But you keep getting stronger and better the more you play. As you level up you get permanent upgrades and new gear and weapons. At first you may find yourself not able to get past stage 11 of world 2, for example. But the more you play, next thing you know you're beating the entire world. The game has worlds for each phase. Each world has 30 levels (so far, I'm on world 3), and if you die during any of the levels of that world, you start again at level 1 of that world. But because of leveling yourself up and the gear and weapons you find each time, you'll progress more and more each run. I love the game. And there's no ads unless you choose to watch a video on certain levels that don't have enemies, to get a random boost. In those non enemy levels there's also an Angel that will heal you, and every few levels you get to choose one of three boosts. Definitely worth a shot (pun intended).

  • Worth 4 stars.

I saw the ad for this game a few times before finally saying heck it, I’ll try it out... Since then, I have started playing lots of metal and trudging through this rather challenging game. I finally made it to stage 5 with the help of the laser rifle.

The graphics are colorful and reminiscent of old school Flash games on the internet. The controls are fairly tight, especially considering you don’t have to worry about aiming as your character does that himself. The perks are all fun and interesting, though there are a few like Blast Suit and Zap Death that are fairly useless. All the monsters are interesting and unique, especially from the Blocky Planetoid, all the aliens are similar to the koopas and goombas from Mario Bros.

If you’re looking for a nice little time sink that actually keeps you coming back, I would highly recommend Mr. Autofire.

  • Addicting, fun game

This game is very addicting and actually very fun. I saw the ad for it probably 20 times before downloading it; each time thinking “eh looks like it could be too hard to move like that without being hard on controls” but I’m glad I downloaded it. Only downfall to this game is that the repetition is unreal. Playing the same level over and over again. It’s very similar to the game ARCHERO with similar perks and play thru style. But this game only has like 3 or 4 worlds and it takes forever to get to world 3 playing it over, and over, and over again. Would be a lot more fun with more worlds, more levels, and more variety to keep you on your toes.
