Couldn’t get my money for a house closing!

I had been a Marcus customer since September 2022 but recently closed my account due to a frustrating experience that left me unable to access my own money when I needed it most. After initiating the transfer for the P&S, I received an alarming call instructing me to contact Marcus. The first agent I spoke with had no idea why I was called, and I was transferred SEVEN times, each time having to re-authenticate with three pieces of information. The agents repeatedly cited ‘quick money rules,’ despite the fact that I had more than five times the necessary amount in my account for over two years, and a significant deposit had been made four months prior.

Eventually, one agent was able to assist, but even she couldn’t assure me that I would be able to wire the funds for my closing. Given this uncertainty, I transferred my entire balance to another bank, which could issue a certified check. This process, however, was equally painful—I spoke with 11 different representatives before finally being able to move my money.

While I valued the high interest rates and ease of use with Marcus, what’s the point of a high-yield savings account if you can’t access your funds when you need them most? This experience ultimately led me to close my account.

App usability has got worse

Recently redesigned app had useful features (not offered by other banking apps) removed - why ? This was a step backwards. Most recent updates have also resulted in app logging me out every couple of days - old version was stable and didn’t have this issue.
I’m unhappy with degradation of service.

Great app, but devs seemingly ignoring customer feedback

I’ve had no issues withdrawing money as many of the recent reviews here seem to flag, perhaps that only triggers issues when one tries to draw large amounts. The deprecation of the graphs were a net loss to the quality of the app, as they made financial growth feel more tangible due to the visual element. There are countless cries here from users who wish to have it back, and many of the responses from the dev team (or whatever it is that responds to these reviews, perhaps it’s ChatGPT) are incredibly generic. If you’re not going to reinstate the graphs just say so and don’t give us false hope. For future notice please consult your users before making anymore changes that degrade the quality of the app. Inform us beforehand if you’re going to rip away a beloved feature- bad customer relations right there. Product manager needs a spanking!

No longer able to use app?

Open the app today to discover that my phone is no longer support !!!! Great move stopped supporting iOS 15 what do this when apple or still updating ! This is very poor I could understand if apple had stopped future updates but it has not. Plus I am unable to afford a newer phone thanks plus I do t have a computer this phone it my only device. I now have to struggle with the website instead now oh joy of joy that will be.

Used to be great

Marcus has made a lot of changes to the app and its interface in the past couple of months. Taking away the insights aspect of the home page was brutal and I found that it greatly diminished the helpfulness of the app, enough that I considered switching to another bank that offered a more robust app interface. I really didn’t think the app could get worse after they did that. However, one of the more recent updates took away the ability to see the sum of your accounts at the top of the home page. Now if I want to know what I have in total savings across my accounts, I have to do the math myself, and that’s just ridiculous for a banking app. Almost nothing about this app is helpful or user friendly anymore. If you’re new to the app, you probably won’t have many complaints but I doubt that anyone that had the old Marcus app is happy with the current one.

No transaction download feature

First of all, Thanks for the new version of app. It looks great.

As a user, I needed to share my last 6 months' statement. Unfortunately, the mobile app does not have filter or download statement features. Additionally, when I request 6 months' transactions on the web app, it downloads the full statement from the beginning of the account creation, which is not what I expected. It would be very helpful if these inconsistencies and missing features could be addressed.

Love Marcus, don’t like the update

I've been using the Marcus app for a while now, and overall, I've been very pleased with it. One of the standout features is the ease with which you can check your accounts. The user interface is intuitive and straightforward, making it simple to navigate through various account details.

However, with the latest update, I’ve encountered an issue that has been quite frustrating. The app no longer provides the previous option where it would show the overall account balance from all accounts at a glance. This feature was incredibly convenient for getting a quick snapshot of my total financial status without having to manually sum up individual account balances.

While I still appreciate many aspects of the app, the removal of this feature has been a significant drawback for me. I hope the developers consider bringing back the overall account balance view in future updates.

Amazing HYSA

I love Marcus! They’re one of my favorite financial institutions that is virtual. I don’t have a need to call them often as everything is self explanatory. They literally just updated their app so it’s more streamlined. It’s very fast to log on and access my information. (Some apps take a while to load but not this one).

However, with the new update, it no longer states the total in all of your accounts at the top. Which I don’t like that. I want to see how much my total savings is. I hope they put it back. Also, my second favorite is with capital one. I wish Marcus would show an accrural amount up to date each month like capital one does. I like watching my interests grow daily until the payout. It’s not a dealbreaker but would be a nice feature.

New App And Not As Competitive

Just downloaded the new app , shame we can’t be giving choice of either using old app or the new one , I preferred the original app , sorry to say , and Marcus is not as competitive with other online Banks as it once was , You can get a better interest rate by shopping around so there’s a good chance that I may be closing this account very soon

Good but…

Like the bank, the account and the interest rate. The app generally does what I want but see also below

However…
- no support for open banking! Come on Marcus, get with the programme!
- slow to produce annual statements for use in my tax return. The app tells me that I can download the 23-24 tax certificate but when I look at the documents section, only the 22-23 certificate is visible
