User Reviews: Pantone Connect

  • Impossible to use

45 minutes later and not an image to show for it. How is this possible? This doesn’t count the amount of time for me to figure out which app I needed. I’m pretty sure every single user will need to download the proper app and every single user will have their first experience be frustrating. Not worth the paper it’s printed on and not worth the time and effort I have spent. I’m extremely disappointed in a company that wants the color standard to be in their hands and puts out an app that pretty much any quality 8th grader could do better.
Please fix the some things- here is a checklist for you.
    1. QR code at the very least takes you to a download the app page.
    2. For gods sake let me take a picture and then use your app to figure things out. Don’t make me hover for 5 minutes.
    3. That’s it, that’s all we ask from the “Gold” standard of color.
  • Second Bad Review

Ok, so I bought the card ($15) and paid overnight ship charges. Got the app four days later! Opened it today to test against my Pantone Connect phone app. I cannot begin to explain how absolutely frustrating this app is. I spent about five minutes trying to get the card to register a color fabric that I had laid out on the table. Tilting the card to the right to align it as per your instructions did not work. When I did get it to work I heard the camera take a picture but the image is nowhere to be found. It is not in the Pantone Connect app, it is not in my photo library. I see that you have extended the free app out until September but honestly if you don’t fix these bugs you’re not going to have a lot of business on this. It’s certainly not going to be worth $30 a year. I can honestly say that this $15 card is useless. I could go on, in fact I’ll go on a little bit more, the QR code on the back of the card goes to a QR Reader that opens up a separate window and Pantone. This does not connect the card to the app on iPhone. The instructions when the QR Reader opens are in tiny font at the bottom of the window. The very first step says to navigate to the get button. There is no get button in the Pantone app. I was completely on my own trying to navigate and figure out how to get my card to pair with the app. All right I got to go.
  • Can’t login

I created an account in the app successfully, but can’t login. No matter what I do the ‘login’ button doesn’t work. There’s no feedback, no error message, nothing. Sad considering nearly all the app does it tied to a login.
  • Pantone doesn’t play well in the mobile world

Kind of tired of being promised wonderful things and never receiving them when it comes to the mobile environment. I was shocked the app was free and the card was only $15, only to realize Pantone is going to charge you $29 a year for the privilege of using an app that works poorly. I could see if they are no longer going to make the chips but they charge you an immense amount of money for a fan wheel of paper and now they’re going to charge you to use an app that works poorly. What do they spend all their money on? Certainly not app and software development. They need to go to Apple or an equivalent superior app developer to get it working correctly.

    Developer Response

Hi pookerella, thanks for leaving us your feedback. While Pantone Connect is completely free through July 8th, much of the app will remain free to use after this date . All colors and their sRGB/Hex values, extracting color from images, sharing, and use of the Color Match Card to measure will not require any payment (other than initial card purchase). This is the case for the mobile and web applications. Other features are part of Pantone Connect's Premium access, which is detailed on our website. We also hope to meet the standards you were anticipating, and would love specific feedback. We know our color standards can be costly at times, since they require very precise quality control. To help alleviate this during the impact of the coronavirus pandemic, we accelerated development on the Pantone Connect platform and Color Match Card. This platform is meant to give designers a more accessible way to work with Pantone while they're unable to get into the office, or have limited budgets. Drop us a note at support@pantone.com to let us know what we should change/add to make this better. - Pantone Digital Team
  • Ouch

I came here with high hopes. I am speechless. A company such as Pantone should have solid mobile offering. Not this time around. 😞
