  • This saves time & money and removes hassle.

My stupid cardiologist wants me to track HR while exercising. Okay great. I have peloton bike (not + version) but only 2 years old. I HATE wearing a chest strap to track HR. The chest strap HRM that came with the bike was never a great solution anyway - often it just would not connect. I even tried another Peloton branded chest HRM and that failed to connect just as often. I tried a HRM (~$50) that is worn on forearm and it worked for a few months then died. And don’t forget how dumb I felt wearing a forearm HRM and having it sit right next to my seemingly ineffectual Apple Watch. I hated the fact that the Apple Watch is a great HRM but was unable to work with the bike, and therefore forced me into another piece of hardware.

So I stumbled onto this app Thru a review on a random blog. (‘Champaign and coffee stains’). They detailed a process and usage that was simple and effective.

It’s a great app. I would gladly pay $$ to put the apple watch to good use and not have to wear an annoying HRM.

  • NordicTrack Yay!

Was skeptical after reading reviews on Pelaton. I have a NordicTrack 2950 and on first day worked great. Second day would not connect to treadmill but neither would iFIT chest monitor. Third day connected again without issue. Much more convenient than cheat strap. Not clear on how Apple Health records activity as you don’t select an activity from the workout menu. Going to try for a week before donation.

  • Disappointed

Was excited to hear about this ap, down loaded it and got on the peloton to try it out. It connected initially, but half way through a 30 min ride it lost connection and didn’t reconnect. Tried it again today, connected for the whole ride but showed it was connected but didn’t transmit heart rate to the bike. It did keep the rate on my watch. Will wait for an update to see if it gets fixed. Good try and good idea just not working for me.

  • Worked once then caused cycle computer to reboot

I am using a Coospo BC200. HR worked once then never again.

    App has potential though.
  • Oh well. Not useable for me, alas.

I downloaded this and successfully used it once and donated. I contributed a five star review entitled “So far So Good!” That review is below. Alas, I literally got one use out of it before it became so unreliable and buggy as to be unuseable. Oh well. Stopped trying. I see options for trying to figure out what could be wrong but don’t have the time to get a master’s degree in this particular app. I did make sure software and OS’s were all up to date. An app like this has to be 99% reliable or you’re worried about it all the time.

    **Original Review**
This is the app you need if you are looking to use your Apple Watch with your Peloton and don’t have the “+” version of the Bike. It is very well designed! I should say that I am a new user but just used it for a 60 minute ride and it worked flawlessly. Ad-free with very modest donation requested. Thank you!

  • Worked once then never again

Worked flawlessly the first time. Then every time after it either won’t connect, the heart rate is all over the map, the watch and app aren’t in sync or it just crashes.

It’s a shame because I was thrilled to be able to see my numbers on the screen the first time.
  • It works!

I was close to buying a heart rape strap to combine with my treadmill when someone mentioned this app as an alternative if you have the Watch. And it works!

One mistake I made was not keeping the phone app on screen. Don’t do that. Your treadmill or bike or whatever reads the Bluetooth broadcast from your phone, so you have to be running both the Watch app and phone app at the same time.

I ended up paying for the Pro version, which is really just a tip for the developer, rather than any additional features. No reason not to - it works and saved me $100+ compared to a separate heart rate strap.

  • Too buggy

Really flaky. Sometimes it connects no problem, sometimes you’ll spend forever on it. It was reasonably reliable for a bit, but there must have been a change somewhere because it took 20+ mins of trying disconnects, connects, pairing and unpairing to connect to my peloton bike today. A good alternative to having to buy a bike plus for watch sync, but if it keeps up at this rate I’ll just get a proper HR monitor

  • Does not always connect

You need to fix the issue where it works fine once. Then the next time either the watch or iPhone will complain they cannot read the heart rate data. It’s annoying
  • Keeps disconnecting

I loved this app for about a week. Now, it takes me 30+ min before each peloton ride to debug the app and get it to connect properly. Currently, I’ve been sitting here for 42 min and am about to give up. Idk what happened between the first week and now, but it’s impossible to connect. It’s probably better just to spend the extra $600 and get the bike+. I can’t believe how much time I’m wasting trying to get this to work. *sigh*
