Royal cars are great, so reliable and easy to book on the app and see how long you need to wait, can often get a cab within 5 minutes

Not good for morning bookings
I booked a taxi last night for 8.35am this morning. At 8.33 I had not received any notification that it was on its way. I called them and the automated service could not give me an estimate of when it would arrive, just said they were trying to find a driver. I then spoke to someone who said they were trying to find me a taxi driver in the next 10 mins, but that it would take longer as they would then need to drive to my house.
I gave up as I had a train to catch, and used Freenow and had a taxi within 4 minutes.
At that time in the morning Royal Cars has very few taxis available, if any, as they are doing school runs. Their app needs to reflect this and make clear that nothing is available so that users can make arrangements.

Extortionate prices & bad drivers
Used to be very convenient option but these days the rates are so far high and unusual. The drivers too don’t want to listen any advice on routes. I have moved on to 001 taxies who provide better rates and good drivers comparatively. I use the same route on regular basis and the difference on rates is really really visible.

Poor usability
Poor usability in the app. So hard to sign up. Doesn’t autofill anything useful, like card numbers or addresses. Almost impossible to use with a password manager, as you can’t copy/paste into the fields.
Amex not accepted
App works like a charm but it seems I cannot use my Amex card. It let me input the data but at the “revised by the bank”. The only app to do this.
Don’t try this on a weekday morning
The app is slightly clunky to use but manageable. The problem is that Royal accepts too many pre-bookings especially for Monday mornings and then when your driver is supposed to arrive you get a message saying sorry, we’re experiencing high demand! I wish they’d tell you at booking time, so you could still arrange alternative transport.

Good unless you live just outside of Oxford
I used to like this company and then I moved to a village just outside of Oxford and everything changed. Anytime I book in advance as soon as it gets to the arrival time the driver is 20 minutes away. Today this happened and I watched from the doorway while putting on my shoes as the driver arrived and sat there for a minute or two did not bother to ring me and nearly drove off. I’ve had it with this company. I have numerous health conditions and struggle with my commute to work but I have been able to rely on the bus service more than this company. Do not bother with them.

Journeys usually good, app getting worse
The app doesn’t know about the booking I have made by phone call. Paying through the app worked on the previous version, but hasn't the last few times I've tried it. The app seems to be reducing in functionality over time
Not worth it
Completely incompetent drivers with a disgusting attitude, wouldn’t trust this service with anything. Driver shouting at my mother to only drive off when she asked why she was shouting at him to meet him earlier. Tried to make a complaint to only hear ‘’yes yes okay, bye bye”. DISGUSTING. Clearly done it before, clearly don’t care and protecting their own.. Made a similar complaint a few months back - so happy the see they care / act a about customers..
