  • Not that good.

So, Amaru is an alright game for mental health-but the fact you need to pay for stuff in a game like this is bad. Every time I try and pet Amaru and feed it, nothing happens and it always says Amaru isn’t hungry. So, what do you want me to do? I play games and do exercises but our bond never grows. It needs updating because so far it’s becoming a chore.

  • Charming and has lots of potential

I originally heard about this game when it was a Kickstarter campaign, but due to having been burned more than once with Kickstarter games I decided to just keep an eye on its development and buy it when it actually released.

I’m so glad I did! It’s a charming game and has definitely helped me improve my mental health through the self-help guidance, but I do wish there were a few features:

1: Notifications when Amaru is fully rested or back from exploring, I often forget to check in on him again after I’ve played once in a day.
2: Notifications to continue my streak! Having ADHD means I often forget to check in on Amaru regularly, meaning that I haven’t managed a streak of more than one day so far.
3: The ability to have this app connect to either Fitbit or Apple Health to log mindfulness minutes—so far I’ve been using the Mindful app on my Fitbit Versa 3 to track when I’m using this app but I’d love to bot need to remember to turn on another app to have using Amaru count towards my daily Mindfulness practice.

Overall it’s a fantastic app so far, and it’s already gotten better since it’s release so I’m really looking forward to seeing where the dev team takes it next. ❤️

  • This game is helpful but you have to pay for a lot

I saw this game and downloaded it because it said it helps with mental-health and goals, the graphics are great and the cat is adorable but in order for me to do anything, I have to pay for some type of fvvking key(s) or else I can’t create/do any goals which won’t let me help the little cat character so it just sits there all sad like cause I cans do anything. Yes this app would be 5 stars if you didn’t have to pay for the stuff that’s supposed to help you with your mental health which is the point of the game. It’s seems like all their trying to do is make money off of your mental health.

  • This game is so sweet and wholesome

I wish that I could unlock everything I don’t have in the game right now, but honestly I don’t mind missing out a little bit this game has meditation exercises and self care notes, it promotes healing and comfort. I’ve never seen a “self care” game in which it seems like the developers really care, Atleast not until I found this one. I’m gonna use this app as a means to try and take back control in my life. I’ve been having a really bad time mentally and even something like this can do so much to help.

  • A Good Start

Without paying for the expansion of the game, it few very basic. Being basic isn't nessesarily bad, but it does leave a tad to be desired. If you truly wanted to entice people to buy the expansion, make about half of it free to demo the functions that are expanded apon in buying the unlock. For instance, make a travel option, a different journal prompt, maybe a few treasures, and a few interchangeable tasks available in the base game, just so people can understand what they'd be buying. I think there should also be a better way to use beads, though this might be an issue of not having bought the expansion, only elaborating on my point further. However, despite the basic start, the game is very wonderfully made, sporting a very nice art style that fits it's mood.

  • Total game changer

I’ve tried for several years to practice better self care, and nothing really ever gave me an incentive to actually work on myself like this. Through taking care of another creature I’ve been able to really prioritize my self care and regularly mediate and journal better than I ever have in the past. Over the past month my mental health has taken a substantial turn for the better, and while no virtual pet could adequately substitute for actual therapy, this has really given me the tools I need to cope with my depression and anxiety.
    Thanks Amaru ❤️

  • Cutest Habit-Building App Ever

So far I’ve only used the free version, but I DEFINITELY plan to buy the full $13 version in the next couple of months! This concept is so wonderful—a virtual pet that helps you build positive habits of mindfulness and self-care! I really love that. The music for the echo stones is lovely and I play the unguided one every day while drawing my daily tarot cards. It really soothes my mind and makes me feel especially in tune with my spirit guides. In-game currency is super easy to come by so I’ve always got food to feed the adorable Amaru and I love the gratitude journal. My only complaint is that I wish the character count of journal entries was unlimited so I could use the gratitude journal as a dream journal instead. But this app is beautiful in every way and I am more than happy to buy the full version when it’s in my budget to do so!

  • Pretty Good, Recommend Premium/Full Game!

It’s a really good game, it’s adorable, you can get some progress- daily goals/streaks still exist, and you can feed and play with Amaru, as well as write in the gratitude journal, do some (2) meditation exercises, and bond with him+grow your aura, but there’s a lot of missed out features. You cannot go to new areas, write in the normal “journaling” journal, complete your bond, or play all the games or even do all the mediation exercises without it- but I’m not upset, because it’s reasonable and makes sense! I would just recommend the full game if you get this, because if you don’t, you’ll miss out on a lot of stuff that you’ll really wish you could get. If not though, it’s still a great game! I don’t have the full game myself, and I still like it, so yeah! Has definitely helped improve my mental health, even if just a little bit 💖(it’s only been 50 days)

  • Good for relaxing

Enjoying building the bond, would like more journal options.
  • Love it!

I love this app so much it’s really improved my control over my mental health. If you enjoy it I recommend getting the full version because it’s only a one time payment and although there’s not a lot in it yet I feel like this app is going to grow and grow.
