Awful after the change to a paid membership

This is a completely useless app ad of a few months ago when nearly everything changed to a paid monthly fee. You used to get a decent sum of points each month and reasonably priced rewards along with the credit monitoring perks all for free and you just had to review your landlord each month. Now to do basically anything there's a monthly subscription fee and the rewards are all so expensive and the free points are minuscule. It's a worthless app since the change that just sells your info to third parties. And it's tied in with corporate property management companies so all around just a negative experience.
Update: the developer responded but didn't refute anything I said lol. They most certainly sell your info. I signed up through a brand new work phone/number and mysteriously started receiving spam and phishing texts/calls after joining Piñata. Stay away

Hello Peen Nuts, We'd like to clarify some points about our $5/month subscription: It offers access to more rewards and weekly high-value giveaways. You can report rent to all 3 credit bureaus, with up to 24 months of backreporting. You receive 100 welcome points and 6x the monthly points of a free account. Your data is not shared with property management companies unless they enrolled you. Free accounts still have access to limited rewards, but don't include credit reporting. What a Scam

Are you aware that you are entitled to three free credit reports a year that you can use to track your credit score? Also, if you have a credit card many like Citibank or Chase offer this service for free with updates when your credit changes. I have been a homeowner and have owned three homes. I found myself leasing for the first time at 46 when we relocated. The leasing company forced us to purchase certain products and offered the Piñata service. What a joke! You don’t have to pay to monitor your credit. It is free save 60 dollars a year and buy yourself something you would use points to get. I don’t actually know but I assume since they give the disclaimer (trad the small print) based on one person who won the free rent and one person won the free tv on the past 4 years. So for the person who has been renting and using this app for 4 years you just spent 240 dollars. Is the value of what you get in return worth it?

Hello, for many users credit building is really important and not everyone has access to this service. If Piñata's credit building is not relevant for you and your property management company enrolled you, please reach out to them to unenroll you or contact our customer support to assist you further at contact@pinata.ai. Aside of credit reporting you have access to our daily reward drops and giveaways. Your feedback is much appreciated.

Autopilot support with consequences

Update: Yes, there’s a full-time team of human agents available, but unfortunately, they don’t have the authority to assist. They are extremely nice, but they aren’t in charge. Example, issues with deposits: 1.) Plaid: unreliable, support not in charge. 2.) Deposit funds from another account: unreliable, tech support unavailable. 3.) Pay your landlord: not available. 4.) Transfer to your landlord works great …. unless it doesn’t: “The payment could not be created, since it puts you over your daily ACH credit limit” The system is far from being flawless yet the support is nearly completely automated. That means if you run into a problem you’re on your own. It works if it works and it doesn’t if it doesn’t, there seems to be no third option e.g. locating te issue or fixing it.

Making Renting Truly Enjoyable

I’ve been in my rental property for the Last 3 years and I truly enjoy that the management company uses Piñata because it makes renting truly enjoyable. To actually be Rewarded each month for making your payments on time makes it that much more special. To be able to save up my rewards for All of the Amazing Gifts and Gift Cards that are on the site is Amazing!!! This year I even went a step further and applied for the Piñata debit card where I can use it to pay rent and make my every day purchases all while getting rewarded which I can’t do with my other debit cards. Thank you Piñata for keeping us Renters in mind.

Been with them a while

Been a paid user for quite some time now, until the upgrade. It’s a shame the only plan is yearly, not everyone can afford it this way and the site referencing the monthly cost is misleading since u can only pay annually now. I would have continued to pay on a monthly basis but it is what it is so although it takes forever to get enough points now since there is almost never new earning opps (surveys etc) its free so…. Now just 5 months till I can afford what I saved up for forever and had until I no longer was a paid user n was trying to figure out the upgrade. But in the mean time all rewards were also being increased- so went from having it to 5 more months till I can earn it. Frustrating but guess such is life!!!

Piñata is great!! I'm so glad my complex started using it a few months ago. I get to boost my credit and earn points just by being an adult. the points earned allow you to enter raffles and can be redeemed for great prizes and gift cards. i just won an insta duo pot raffle a few weeks ago and have received some unique prizes by redeeming points. the app has had some glitches but the customer service team always resolves any issues quickly. I wish my old apartment complexes used this app!! 10/10 recommend - thanks piñata.

💲💰💸POP THIS PIÑATA 💰💸

I needed to boost my credit so I can get a better move in special, or buy a house possibly. I found this app by chance and figured why not. It took about a month and a half to get the ball rolling because they report your rent payments a month later.(February payment posts at end of March…) What’s different about Piñata is your landlord doesn’t have to register as well.(although it helps). They will let you upload proof of rental payments to be verified. I was able to upload my Zelle payments to my landlord who is a private owner I rent from. Piñata not only posted my recent rent payments, they also accepted all my Zelle receipts for the past 11 months and reported those as well. My credit score skyrocketed by 80 points. Unbelievable right! Now I qualify, for $199 move in specials and home loan/buyer programs I thought wasn’t possible. And you get rewarded for your payments for products the have, and the donate meals for charity. And this app if free! POP THIS PIÑATA!

Makes Renting Rewarding

I love the Piñata app! I’ve been using it for a couple of months now and I can’t say enough positive things about this app. Credit reporting has already improved my credit. I’m a big fan of the rewards offered. I’ve even made connection to other partners through this app to save money.

Everything is made so simple, I literally feel like I don’t need to actively work to get my rewards and credit reporting! I just linked my bank through a secure source and it takes care of reporting.

I highly encourage every renter to take advantage of this program! You won’t be disappointed.

Best Renter Rewards

Piñata is hands down the best reward & benefit app for renters/landlord currently on the entire AppStore. My only negative feedback is not discovering piñata sooner & taking advantage of having my monthly rent payments being reported to increase my credit as well as the rewards I’ve missed out on. Being rewarded for your monthly rent payments which your already doing anyways & you get weekly rewards from gift card drops or even being able to redeem products like Apple Watches, Nintendo switches & the list goes on… yeah sign me up. If you are reading this review and haven’t decided if it’s worth your time, trust me your future self will thank you for joining the piñata renters rewards program & community. 5 stars from me, would give more if I could!!

Renter nation: standup!

I’ve been using piñata for years now. I’ve been renting since i was 18, and wish i coulda been rewarded then. They report to my credit bureau the same as a line of credit or the chime credit builder card. My credit has gone up so that’s a plus. My rewards are quality. I enjoy my ceramic bathroom set. It’s well made and something i needed & i couldn’t afford so i enjoy it! I love the animal toys too, well, the dog & cat do lol. The giftcard rewards are great also. The rent reporting is easy, my banks are connected and it feels safe. I’ve never had any trouble. Also the app does exactly what it says: rewards my for paying rent and build my credit. I would, and do recommend the Pinata app to everyone. Many of my friends have downloaded it and they have become a part of their Renter Nation as well; A supportive community for renters. I enjoy the app & being rewarded for my loyal on time rent payments. I love seeing what new rewards are added to the app, and updating my points when i first open it. So exciting! Give it a try, you’ll enjoy being rewarded if you rent; especially if you pay through AppFolio!
