  • Past two updates have rendered the app useless

    June 12, 2024 Updated Review: even after the Apple OS update that came shortly after the latest Locals update, I’m still not having a good user experience with the app. I have to watch from my browser. I wish I had never updated the app.

    When I first downloaded this app it worked perfectly. Also while I didn’t really like the layout of the app, I eventually got used to it. The new layout is even more frustrating like others have mentioned. For the last two updates I’ve not been able to watch the content that I pay for monthly and that’s made a majority of a months service that’s just wasted. So many people are giving the creators grief but it’s not their fault. I really hoped this new update was going to fix the problem. Nope. Got 10 minutes into Predator Poachers video and it’s crashed. Same thing that’s been wrong. I have two other subscriptions on locals and the bugs made it look like I didn’t even pay for them and I don’t have subscriber only content access. Please fix or just roll it back to the format it was before the update that killed the app. It would be nice too for the folks who pay for subscriptions, to have an adjustment that doesn’t come out of the content creators pocket.

  • The new update made the app unusable.

    I always use the app version of Locals to keep up with specific creators. It did everything I wanted and needed it for, easily and intuitively. Then they released this new overhauled version, and it’s so bad!!! I can’t watch a video without issues; the posts people make that have photos and videos remove the user's context that goes with the post. Nothing about the update made anything better, and I have tried to think of some improvement. Many in the local’s communities I’m a part of are ditching the app and just using their mobile web browser, or are ending their membership because the update has destroyed everything valuable about the platform. Your better off using your browser than this app.

  • The new version works worse than the old version

    The new version of Locals has a nicer looking icon, but that seems to be the only thing that is imroved. I subscribe to several content makers on Locals, and I pay separately by credit card. yet, 90% of the time when I attempt to watch the content (Scott Adams) the app is unaware that I pay afor the content and only gives me a preview. If I click the button with the preview to try to validate that I pay, the system tells me to buy some kind of Locals coins (or something like that). I am not into buying crypto tokens that are prorprietary to an app, that is why I pay by credit card. This new app had better improve soon or I will switch to just subscribing to the free podcasts and deal with the annoying ads. I only use this app to avoid ads.

  • Version 2.1.X stinks

    I joined when it was version 2.0.XX and it was literally one of the best apps I’ve ever used. When I opened it up to find I was now on 2.1.0 and started using it, it is awful. That’s not just because it was different, it simply does not work nearly as well AND it is not nearly as intuitive. For example, you can no longer touch a person‘s name when they leave a comment and then see their profile. You have to go to the ENTIRE Locals population and search for a person. THAT is really fun (NOT). Searching for Johnny123, it does not find Johnny123, it finds EVERY Johnny (without the suffix) and there’s 469 Johnnys to scroll through to find the one I’m looking for. Stupid. In addition, it defaulted to only showing the host’s posts, not everyone’s posts. I’m no dolt, even so it took me a while to figure out how to see everyone’s posts. And I am not a lone voice in the wilderness, other people in the community I’m a part of really dislike 2.1.X also.
    I’m really sick and tired of computer, software and app people thinking they have to change for change’s sake to make things “better“ because people get bored with the same. It’s a 50-50 shot, sometimes it’s better and sometimes it’s worse. In this case, it’s worse. Don’t fix what isn’t broken. Not everyone has the attention span of a gnat so they need something different, many of us cherish what works well and don’t want it wrecked.

  • Quality app but latest version has a bug

    It’s refreshing to be in a community essentially without trolls. Since commenters have to subscribe, most of the people are there to communicate rather than instigate.

    The latest version, however, is really irritating me because it wants to default to portrait mode rather than landscape mode so I have to keep closing the app and restarting to get back to landscape which is my preferred orientation on iPad. Just today, I’ve had to do it 6 times in about an hour. Developer — PLEASE FIX THIS!

  • I use it for Scott Adams

    There is good content but the app itself is mediocre. Shows don’t start for inexplicable reasons sometimes. For some reason there is a long delay after a live stream and a show is available for watching later. There really also should be an option to download a show for when one will be in an area with no network and there should also be an option for audio only editions of shows. I often listen to Scott Adams while walking my dog and the fact that a video has to play 1) Complicates the experience in general and 2) is not efficient for my cellular data plan.

  • Livestream and playback need improvement

    Review is about app, not content. Playing back a CWSA works until you pause it. Frequently loses the pause time and I have to close app and start playback again. It does let you scroll to where you want to be. Livestream doesn’t let you scroll mid livestream. Rumble (Bongino) works flawlessly. Should be the locals goal. Interrupting a livestream to hear a text or take a call sometimes freezes a livestream. Have to close app and restart it. First restart fails because it says I already am logged in somewhere else. Closing and restarting works.

    Nov 11 update

    App allows pausing and starting from beginning during a livestream. Nice! However, during the delayed playing, when the livestream ends, so does the delayed playback. Have to wait for it to be posted before you can listen to the rest of the stream.

  • Has faults

    Great app, especially when you hit pause, and a heartbeat later it continues on its own. Pause again, and it will keep going because it knows better than you. Pause and lock the phone, and it will continue until the end of the video, which means you have to restart it and figure out where it was before. I know, swipe up, oh well now I have to go look through all the videos and find the one I was watching before. Waaaaay better than youboob. Sure, let’s give a bug report to technical support, ah no in-app means for tech support. Let’s try to figure out…why all the hoops just to get to tech support? Yeah, so much better than youboob.

  • Over the years with Jim at BCP

    Howdy folks of USA. It’s been over 6 years that I’ve been watching this channel. It seems like I grew up with Jim, I know was a Banker, I know he is a father. I know his background and he’s here in America and Jim is a very conservative American, and mostly talks about economics the way the world is going, much clearer when he’s talking about worldly things, that it’s more truthful then the main stream news. He’s onto the politics and let us know what’s happening as it is, as a very conservative American. I have not too much to say but I don’t do this a lot. Jim is one of many patriots that I have my eyes and ears open to Jim’s words. You would know when you keep watching the PCP.
