Why auto lock when playing video?
What is for the most part a good app is ruined by the fact that the iPhone screen will dim and turn off moments after you start a video (many of which are ~1 hour long) Seemingly Apple in their infinite wisdom do not allow the peasants who buy their products to turn off the auto lock setting for specific apps Making an app which largely revolves the sharing of videos quite… frustratingShow lessflock0fseagulls
Great contente, but the interface needs work
I was drawn into Locals by a few of the creators on the site, and I have greatly enjoyed the content and the communities.
But the user interface needs some rethinking. Finding the place where you can search for creators is a bit tricky, and the search itself is a bit rudimentary.
Video playback works, I guess, but there often are layout problems when the video player is displayed with liv chats. It would also be great if this app could support picture-in-picture.
It would also be good to have a “related creators” feature, where users could be given suggestions based on their current communities.
There’s a lot of potential here, and Locals provides a place like no other for creators and communities to form around unique content.
With some user interface updates, there could be a dramatic upswing in user engagement and retention.Show lessMarkInNewYork
A more kind social media
The app is well built and getting more features constantly. Has a new way for creators to make money while also creating a nice user experience. The platform is just nicer interactions because everyone wants to be there.sunstar6s
Apple trying to prevent downloading this app?
When I tried to install this app, instead of the double side tap option I am given with every other app I have downloaded from the Apple Store, I had to dig up my password to install this. Is the store hoping by inconveniencing me enough that I won’t download this particular app? I only say this because I went through the store’s list of other junk apps on the screen that they suggest and every time I got the double side tap option, as per my settings and the norm. 🧐Show lessGMKickBxr
Getting There
I love the Locals vibe, the personalities and unprecedented access. The interface and UX could use some work. It's lacking a level of intuitive interfacing that boomers like myself would enjoy.
But the lack of selective censorship, the liberty to enjoy people I like entertaining me without the "Sword of Damacles" hanging there, ready to cancel you for wrong think.
It's getting there and definitely worth staying for the content.Show lessCowValley
Latest update a step backwards
While i enjoy the app as a general idea, there’s at least one feature that fell through the cracks: what happened to the iOS app ability to “mark all read” for each community notifications?
For the future: why can’t locals video/audio play in the background? SiriusXM and other audio apps seem to manage that trick just fine…Show lessnhjsg
Needs ALOT of work
Literally the worst app on my iPhone as far as user interface. I wish it was more like Periscope was. My biggest gripe about Locals is that it won’t play in the background. There used to be a work around but that doesn’t work anymore. Also, the sound is so glitchy. When I use the app I am mostly listening with Bluetooth headphones. I don’t know what this issue is but it cuts out a LOT. It’s not my headphones because I’ve used different ones and it also does it when my phone connects to my car. I wish the app was more like Periscope. Really miss that appShow lessdesertbunnee

Locals is GREAT!! App, not so much.
Locals is an awesome social media platform where The Big Tech Brothers are not in power. Freedom of speech is honored, and you can decide who you can see in your feed, and your able to give financial support to your favorite communities. Unfortunately, the app is not very good. The biggest issue I see is in the organization. I have a few groups that I subscribe to. Occasionally, I need to manage my subscriptions, but when I go into the “manage subscriptions” area, I can only see one at a time. I have to go out of that screen and go into another group, then go back, if I am to make any changes to that subscription. So, I am giving LOCALS 10 stars 🤩, but the app only gets three ⭐️from me. Great INFO site!
Being new to Locals, I am feeling a little awkward getting used to this kind of security/intel forum, but at NO fault of the great host, contributors or content. I am experiencing a relaxed but engaging community while embracing the host’s encouragement to hang in there while collecting valuable information for OSINT potential. Since this forum has been around for a little while... I hope I can reach back often to past submissions and members’ input. I can already tell that this will be well worth the energy.
