  • Surprised

So far this app is excellent. The daily practice I get has tremendously helped my recognition in positions in the opening I usually play
  • Paid version not working

Hi there, I paid to upgrade to pro but every time I want to use a pro version course, it says I need to upgrade to pro.
I have been charged on my credit card and my Apple account shows I am upgraded as well.

Please help as I really like the app otherwise.
    Thanks

  • great at what it does + clean UI, but volume seems bugged

been a fan of the site since 2020 & hyped that it was released as a mobile app as well.

honestly don’t have any issues with the content or implementation; however it seems the volume of the pieces (during study/quiz modes) are either bugged or set too high.

i could have my phone volume at 15% but the pieces in-app sound like they’re at about 80%. it’s very jarring esp if you’re listening to music or other audio at 50%, and there doesn’t seem to be a way to adjust the in-app volume other than muting altogether.

couldn’t find a place to leave feedback so just leaving it as a review. if this gets fixed or addressed, it would be a 5-star for sure.

  • Great app but minor bug in some classes

In some classes, like the Woodpecker method, the auto-next function doesn’t always work even when it’s on

  • Good content but crashes

The content is good and the interface is fine. But this is the most unstable app I’ve ever used. Usually when I open it, it crashes within a few seconds. I have to open it several times before it stays open. Also, every time I complete a review session, it gives me the enlightening message “An error occurred.”

  • Great training tool

Was looking for something to learn openings. This is perfect, it walks you through openings with explanations of why moves are made. Then it test your retention with repetition of moves.
  • Bare minimum

It’s missing many features of the website and has annoying little things like not letting you listen to music while you do exercises, even if sound is off. You can’t buy any of the power ups. It’s the bare minimum an app can be to be functional, but it really should be more feature rich.
  • App doesn’t show up in AppStore search

Hi, just letting you know the only way to download the app was through the link in google search. When I tried searching “chessable” in the AppStore, this didn’t come up in the results at all. I’m in Canada region.
  • Brilliant service, buggy app

Don’t get me wrong, I love Chessable. Over the years I have sunk hundreds into purchasing pro memberships, video courses, and random books. This app is also something I cried out for for years! And it is quite good.

Overall, it’s let down by bugs. MoveTrainer regularly wigs out with no possible move, requiring me to end and restart my training session.
Just now I was having a great training session and midway through I got booted back to the login screen.

It also is a little cut back in functionality. For example, if you want to use rubies to go “double or nothing” or enter a “streak protect”, you can’t manage this from the app and need to use a desktop. That’s fine - but it would be good to have some visual cues in the app to communicate this to users and prevent them clicking around and googling trying to find things that are not possible.
Annoyingly, I can’t manage notifications in the app… and I have badges showing that I can’t “clear” - requiring me to turn this off at the OS level.

Ideally, we’d have offline sync for this - to allow training while on domestic or long haul flights etc… but really all we need at this point is stability during a training session.

  • I'm no master BUT...

There is a lot of free fun stuff on chessable. I've paid for several courses; they are well thought out and prepared. The presentation is much better than I've seen on the web. The only thing I wish to see on chessable is student/teacher Q&A
