  • It keeps losing my courses

It only shows 2 of the 10 courses I have purchased. Or none. Resetting dashboard doesn’t help. Deleting and reinstalling doesn’t help. Update: my courses are back, but “losing”courses has been an ongoing issue. Only 3 stars for the moment. It intermittently shows and loses courses.
  • Good but buggy

Forgets login data and needs frequent re installation.

    Good when working

  • Awesome app, best tactics trainer on the IOS App Store

I’m a huge fan of Chessable, and the app is great for improving you pattern recognition. I have tried many other chess training apps and view chessable as the premier.

The updates to improve the app have been pretty good with allowing offline videos.

My negatives that need to be fixed for 5 stars:

The ability to use the app with bad internet.
While you can watch videos offline, you are not actually able to use any of your courses.

Another issue is that the app logs me out pretty frequently if I have bad internet.

  • Great content, lacking execution

The iPad version of Chessable still has the same great content, but is weighed down by a weak feature set and some frustrating bugs. Others have mentioned the frequent random log outs. What makes it close to unusable for me is the delay in the trainer after making a move. There is about a half second pause between making the move and it actually appearing on the board. This does not happen on the website or in he iPhone app.

With a fuller feature set and some important bug fixes, this would be a 5 star app.

  • Needs time to next move in app

When using the web interface you can easily see how long you have before you’re due for your next move. I wish this feature was in the app.
  • Offline mode needs to be improved

So disappointing that the offline mode does not allow to use the app apart from watching videos (like for instance doing puzzles). I mean it’s very expensive for the little added benefit

    Developer Response

Thanks for the feedback. We are working to improve the benefits of PRO subscriptions. The ability to study offline is on the works here https://portal.productboard.com/dw9qwgcuadvy7fgp3dv4x6kt/c/29-offline-mode
  • Nothing comes close

For anyone with even a passing interest in getting better at chess no app or learning tool even comes close.
  • Buggy

Chessable is great for learning chess with a variety of books, many even free, from prolific chess players. App is buggy though. I use it on the iPhone a few hours a day, and I always get signed off randomly a few times while using it. This is very annoying to have to sign back on. Second, sometimes the app doesn’t register progress after you finish a lesson. This also happens quiet regularly. So, minus two stars on the iPhone app for annoying bugs.

  • Love it!!

I love it and I’ve barely used it so far. I love the concept of Chessable and Magnus agrees with me and the other 750+ positive reviewers who also love Chessable and gave the app a 5 star rating

Cool way to increase your chess knowledge. It’s a more systematic way to study than just doing puzzles somewhere or playing blitz games. Lots of free courses that are a good foundation and then some good paid courses too! Worth your time if you want to improve!
