  • Chessable have revolutionalised chess learning

Chessable have revolutionised chess learning. The best books are available but with practical exercises. Polgar, Kramnik & Carlsen share their thought process in courses that cost the same as an hour from a chess tutor.
  • Auto lesson button broken

I enjoy using Chessable on my computer but this app is endlessly frustrating. I am unable to go from one lesson to the next without having to exit back to the chapter screen and scroll down to the next lesson manually every time. This is despite having the auto lesson function turned on. I have tried turning the auto lesson switch on and off again and even deleting the app to no avail - after I finish a lesson it only gives me the option to exit rather than continue. I looked online and found forum posts on chessable dating back several years with people citing the same issue and yet still nothing has been done to fix a seemingly simple yet crucial feature of the app. Pretty disappointing to say the least.

It seems to work for the ‘Learn next’ function for the entire course, but I don’t often use this because I like to learn multiple chapter simultaneously, and unlike on the desktop version there is no ‘learn next’ button for a specific chapter.

Would happily upgrade to 5 stars if this feature was rectified

  • Latest update really buggy

Locking the phone while training and resuming does not allow you to move pieces.

Sometimes I don’t see a green button to progress after practicing a line.

    Lacks offline mode.
  • A bit buggy

Chessable is a fantastic website. This app has at least one major bug though. Sometimes if you guessed wrong, the app go back up to before your error, but will leave your incorrect move on the board. This kind of renders the app unusable for me. Hope it gets fixed soon.
  • Great on the go!

I have recently switched to Chessable for learning openings. While the web platform is still better - primarily because the app doesn’t support the analysis board (yet?) - this app is a great way to study wherever one finds oneself with some downtime. Love it!!
  • Doesn’t have the review function?

Unless I’ve missed it, the app doesn’t give you the spaced review function of the website, which makes the app somewhat useless for me in this instance sadly. I’ll wait a bit before uninstalling in case I’ve missed it, but the website tells me otherwise.
  • Good but some courses seem to be missing

Great interface, runs smoothly, would give 5 stars but not all courses seem available for purchase, which is frustrating. The course I’m looking for is “chess strategy for club players”
  • Lacking

You are not able to download courses you bought onto the app. They also only have opening courses available on the app.
  • Best way to improve at chess

This app has made it easy to train openings/tactics/endgames. Movetrainer is slick and allows for repetition. Great chess books already placed on site and improving everyday. Some free courses here that could keep you busy for months. The paid courses can be pricey but they will last you years! Grandmasters contribute frequently. Highly recommend if you are looking to improve at chess!

  • Not for watching videos

I am still finding browser version of the site better. Cannot make videos full screen and that is no go for me.
