  • Old school feel new school gameplay

The game is very similar to Arena9 that I played on my iPod touch about a decade ago. This game is slightly better in that mechanically it’s more unique. It has 16 squares instead of 9. It also has on board tiles that give bonuses or reductions based on element. Artistic wise this is much simpler but nonetheless still adorable in its own right. I’d like to see added stuff, hopefully not just a cash grab mobile game but a game I can say belongs on any phone. So far on the right track. Could change.

  • Fun game! But

I’m enjoying the game so far. Great music and visuals, F2P friendly, and the card system is simple yet has a lot of strategy to it and is intuitive.
But there is no option (at least, it LOOKS like there isn’t?) to just play against an AI and not someone online. I would much prefer to play the AI as playing against a real person makes me nervous, even if the only communication is with emotes. I’d really hope that eventually becomes a feature.

  • Disappointing and frustrating

The gameplay is much like Final Fantasy’s triple triad, except now there’s bonus tiles and abilities. The abilities are either you get to comeback from losing, or you just got completely locked down cause every bonus tile is burned up turn 1. Even in training 2 the game feels like what you get as starting cards are worthless.

Unlike Triple Triad there seems to be very little balance, and I haven’t even touched pvp. This is just with the computer. Where as TT has card rarities restricted after 3 stars to allow for more balanced gameplay, I see no such balance here.

The concept of a triple triad like game I can play without paying $15 a month for FFXIV is enticing, but with as disappointing my first hour was, I’d rather pay for XIV to get better more balanced gameplay.

  • A smartphone game that actually feels like a game.

Some phone games are littered with micro transactions and ads. There’s no ads in this game. It does have a subscription thing, but it doesn’t shove it your face. The first thing it teaches you to do is to play the game. It’s actually fun.
  • Loving this!

Creatures of Aether is exactly the kind of game I’ve been looking for on mobile. The music, aesthetic, and overall presentation is top-notch and exactly the kind of thing I’d expect from the creators of Rivals of Aether. Excited to keep playing this and even more excited to see what’s next in the Aether universe!

  • Fun gameplay, questionable payment model

I’m finding the game very fun to do in short bursts (I don’t often play mobile games), and like Rivals of Aether, the visuals and animations feel super solid. As far as I’m aware, the gameplay is closest to Triple Triad, if people like playing that. I’m not so keen on having a battle pass system, though, since that model relies on FOMO as a pressure mechanism.

I really hope this game gets a good following, since I can really feel the effort that the team put in.

  • I Like and hate it

I like the game but I absolutely hate it at the same time. Creatures of Aether is very much like Tetra Master, a Final Fantasy mini-game but with a twist. Certain cards in Creatures of Aether have powers and the board does have elemental tiles that can give or remove stats. Although I did get a bit of nostalgia because it’s similar to Tetra Master, Creatures of Aether is not nearly as fun nor satisfying. Cards can level up if you have enough duplicates of the same card which means the game is pay to win. There is a total deck cost limitation meaning each card has a certain cost and if your deck is above the cost you cannot play the deck, I’d love to play all my strongest cards in a single deck but that would never happen. The elemental tiles are sometimes a pain to deal with because you can be forced to dump a card in an elemental tile that isn’t favorable for your cards element which means your card loses overall stats, there is a specific card that removes elemental tiles but if you didn’t pick that card as your starter, too bad. If you plan on trying the game, I do believe it can be fun but it is very much is pay to win.

  • So much fun!

Creatures of Aether is so much fun! It uses the perfect formula of easy to learn, hard to master.
There’s strategy required to be good, but it’s not hard to pick up and learn.
The dungeons are also a really fun game mode that don’t require me to play with others or focus too much on making a deck.
