  • Just what I needed!

Simple and elegant app that does just what it needs to do and doesn’t have any unnecessary bells and whistles. The graphic layout of the app is beautiful and simple and the whole thing is just a joy to use and has made a huge difference in my practicing and keeping myself accountable. The practice journal is also very helpful. Basically anything that a musician might need is anticipated and taken care of.

The only thing I’d want in such an app that isn’t implemented would be a repertoire list. A musician with a large repertoire may want to keep a list of pieces, and for each piece, list where it was last performed, how performance-ready it is, and so on.

Also, it would be nice if the developer could add a way to change the color of the app - just in case someone is not fond of the default color.

But really, suggestions aside, this is a great app and I am very happy I found it.
  • Edit?

Don’t get me wrong. I DO like this App, but I wish there was an ‘edit’ function (if there is, I can’t find it). I practiced today but neglected to stop the timer, so now it looks like I did over 3 hrs of practice in one sitting. I would like to change that to the 45 minutes I actually did do.

Other than that, the App is great. I really like the mood and focus tracker.
  • The Best!

Ok - first thing’s first: this app is amazing! Miles - you’ve seriously changed my practice game, it’s so awesome. I love having everything in one app so I don’t have to keep switching between apps and possibly get distracted!

The only suggestion, which isn’t even super super needed, is to have the notes portion have a writing option! A lot of musicians with an iPad for music also have an Apple Pencil because they like to write, so I’d looooove if that was added!

Either way, I’ve been using this app so much I bought the Pro version. It’s awesome and I get to support another musician, so why not? :) thank you for making this!
  • Great for Simplicity

I love how this app motivates me to practice and keeps me organized on what I have been working on. I can also see the trends of days I have more focus, or a better mood. I do wish there was an option to add more factors like energy level because I find that is a big reason for how long I practice. I have a musician's budget, but will hopefully buy the full version soon.
  • gorgeous interface, easy to use- worth the upgrade, great bargain!!

I bought this app after seeing that the upgraded version was only USD 3.99, and I really wanted to pro feature of having multiple profiles (I play both violin and guitar), text notes, and to support the creator. The graphics are so cute and user-friendly (and I’m super picky about app interfaces, I really can’t stand ugly ones). The creator seems to have thought of everything—just now, I logged a practice session on the wrong profile, and I found the button to switch the practice session over in less than a second.

Honestly, I can’t even think of anything that’s missing from this app—you can record+play back, the metronome is so cute, there are built in timers, everything’s been thought of. Maybe a to-do list feature would be nice, but that’s like asking for an upgrade while sitting in first class. The only thing I haven’t tried yet is the tuner, but I’ll be devastated if this app is ever taken off the app store!! Great work by the creator, keep it up!!
  • Wow! First day using the app and I am MORE than impressed

    Some suggestions though first

    - I’d like to be able to pause when I am timing while practicing, just in case I have to pee or eat or something, so I don’t have to make a whole another practice block.

    - I’d like to be able to maybe sort practice sessions into different colors or groups so I can look at which skill on my instrument I use the most, for example, on my guitar I practice different things, like for one practice session I’ll be doing chords, and then another picking, or so on, and I’d like to be able to sort practice sessions by activity because that would be interesting to see!

And now that I’m done with the suggestions, I’d give this app 10 stars if possible! This app is amazing and deserves much more credit! It’s simple to use! I bought the pro version as soon as I explored the app!
  • Download Now!

This app is the best for practicing! I have a hard time focusing when practicing using my phone because if I need to tune I have to open a new app and same if I need a metronome... but with this all I gotta do is press the practice button and I have a timer, metronome, tuner, and a recording feature—which is amazing!
  • Love this app!

I’m a music major and I’m loving this app. Easy to use and it has so many great features. I really like the recording feature and the metronome. I love the stats and the notes feature too. I’m having my student’s use this app as well. If there was an ability to export reports to teachers that would be awesome!
  • Never using a paper notebook again!

Prior to using Andante, I would dread writing my practice sessions down... I also lost my notebook frequently and was unorganized. Now, I look forward to logging my sessions with only a few taps!

**Andante’s mood and focus tracker is very insightful; it helped me select the best time of day (for me) to practice based off my mood and energy level. (I found that I make the most progress in the evening)

I can still journal and write down notes - so happy I didn’t lose that feature! Also, the practice streak accumulator is super creative and neat!

Conclusion: This app is a MUST for serious musicians who prefer a digital format over paper.

    I have one recommendation:
Consider penalizing people for playing on their phone instead of practicing. There are apps (like Forest and Flora) that notify/buzz if you leave the app (as well as kill the tree you’re “growing” while studying). I realize it’s a bit different with music, but there’s so much room for creativity here!
  • Maybe I spoke to soon! The most useful practice tool I’ve found yet!

The flowing I wrote before I was asked to upgrade:
I don’t mind paying for an app. Just be upfront about it!
I am a professional musician and am constantly looking for ways the streamline my practice time. I’ve used journals and other apps in the past to keep me on track. This app is simple, clean, and gives me the tracking I’m looking for without extra adds and fluff! Other leading practice apps cloud the efficiency of the tool by excluding excess upgrades and social media options. Clean, efficient, and effective is all I have to say!
